Default Why is the cost of education going through the roof?

It is not just California that is raising their tuition fees but most every state. I noticed that two things that have risen the most over the past decade are tuition costs and predictably health care. Health care is another thread. Does anyone know why the cost of tuition has increased so rapidly as compared to everything else. Please leave out partisan crap..liberal this conservative that unless it is really relevant.

The Federal money going to support the WARS would have been better spent aiding the California and all the other states to provide a high quality and affordable education for their childern.

[MOD CUT/personal attack] .
The federal governments job isnt to support state education colleges, you can pretend it is, but that would ignore reality.. Something you dont mind doing..

This is where Greg and Pad's arguments fail.

It doesn't matter WHERE the funding comes from. No money can continue the trend of sustaining discounted premiums weather it be for education or insurance when those costs are reduced by government in lieu of market values.

The policies in California have erroded the states ability to stay afloat financially. Greg's answer, we should errod the federal government's ability to stay afloat.

The war infact contributed to the huge financial debt we see on the feds side. This is true, but changes nothing in regard to the financial state of California and this situation in the public education system.

The biggest difference is, the defense of the country is an enumerated power of the federal government, funding individual state educations is not. This is important if you value the Constitution over emotional knee jerk reactions.

Western Countries throughout the World provide free or deeply discounted tution for their young adults because they know it pays for itself over and over again in more productive workers.

Only here in the US will you find this bizarre ideology that has white middle class and poor men arguing against a benefit for their kids and grandkids....LOL

Their only satisfaction is knowing some brown skinned kid is not getting any of their money...
Is that why so many young people from other countries come to America for their education?

Education funding IS lacking due to the WARS. I do not hate anyone (I did not hate the VCs that almost killed me on several occasions) but I do recognize nonsense when I see it. Federal money spent on higher education is repaid to the government through the progressive income tax. Money to support oil acquisition is never recovered. If we can get into unplayable debt to the Chinese, I prefer it went to supporting our college students instead of our profiteering war mongering defense companies.

For some inexplicable reason you guys prefer to supporting killing people half a world away instead of making the "Liberty and Justice for all" a reality in your own country. Not only are these wars unwinnable they are deeply immoral on many levels. Government money is far better spent on education than killing strangers.

Tell them to get a job and work for a few years and save the money to go to school, or go part time. Many end up in debt with degrees that have little marketability and end up working out of their desired fields and then default on their loans. Or better yet, join the military and have much of their tuition paid after a tour of service.
Obama ate your free lunch.
