She has enough money to buy the world about now. I liked her charity giving but can't say I understand where she is going lately with all the New Age stuff. Rich people start to think they are better than God. She has more money than God.

Will every show from now til 2011 be a "goodbye" show ?
I think they still have obligations/contracts to fullfill with regard to all of those dollars paid in advance for advertising.

lol I doubt god has money. oprah is quite a believer in god. I doubt she feels anywhere on the same playing field as she must believe god is. there isn't a talk show out there that can please all the people all the time.

She is not ending her show. She is going to continue it on her own Cable channel. The only difference is she produces her show and airs it on syndication. Now she is taking the next step and forming her own cable channel so that the next Dr. Phil or Dr. Oz will be featured on her cable channel and she will make even more money than she does now.

It's kind of of like Jay Leno's "last night on the Tonight Show" even though now he has the Jay Leno show which is essentially the Tonight Show at 9 PM instead of 10.

I can select my own books to read, thank you.

I can update myself on current issues, thank you (isn't that what City Data is for?).

I don't need to see more celebrities interviewed, thank you.

Without suburban white women...where would Oprah be?

Shweeple (women sheep).
it is about entertainment.....law and order has been on for 20 years are the people who watch that laweeples? the new york times best seller list..is not trying to tell you what to read and neither is oprah. just pointing out some good books to read if you like reading. it is entertainment people are free to turn the channel or not buy the magazine

I can think of worse figures who could be leading the mass.

Anyway, whatever makes her happy. I'm sure she is a nice person. I knew someone who always liked to quote her (like some devoted worshipper) so I made it a point to avoid watching the show. And I have.

Good, I can't think of a better person to make more money than Oprah. In 2005 Business Week listed her as the 32nd most philanthropic person in the world, having given 303 million up to that point. She's consistently listed as the MOST philanthropic celebrity. I can understand people not liking her talk show---no one show can please everyone---but I don't understand people putting her down as a person. She's a self-made person who didn't hurt anyone on her climb to the top, she has a big heart, and puts her money in to things like: human rights, cancer research, disaster relief, rape and abuse support, the angel network, animal rescue, peace, hunger, creative arts and the list goes on and on. Not bad for a girl raised dirt poor in the 50's south. I sometimes think some people would rather she had been a welfare mother the past 25 years so they could justify feeling superior to her.

I recall watching a show ( years back) where a guest was " kissing up to her" and stated while on earth he believes Oprah is " God like"

When he gets to heaven, he said, he will discover Oprah IS God.

Oprah just beemed and beemed at him.

How arrogant !
