Muslim Nations Seeking International Blasphemy Ban

Thursday, November 19, 2009

GENEVA — Four years after cartoons of the prophet Muhammad set off violent protests across the Muslim world, Islamic nations are mounting a campaign for an international treaty to protect religious symbols and beliefs from mockery — essentially a ban on blasphemy that would put them on a collision course with free speech laws in the West.
Documents obtained by The Associated Press show that Algeria and Pakistan have taken the lead in lobbying to eventually bring the proposal to a vote in the U.N. General Assembly

Freedom of Speech anyone??

You think christians are happy when Jesus gets shafted all the time? No! But nobody's asking for a ban on free speech either!
The religion of pieces.....er....peace...strikes again..

They are really trying to creep in Sharia Law into the west..

All religion sucks. It's a great idea on paper, but humans ruin it.

And thank God religion doesn't rule the government like it does in the ME.
Separation of Church and State has proven itself over and over again.

Don't EVER forget that.

"Islam" means "submission". Submission is not freedom.

Totally agree & I am a catholic. But Islam seems to be the most screwed-up of all religions

Tell that to the voters. Churches influence politics all the time.

The Mormon people and The Rock megachurch in San Diego are responsible for the passage of Proposition 8 in California.

Candidates and politicians talk about bringing religion into schools and law through creationism and abortion issues.

Eliminate the Religious right in this country and our political landscape changes entirely.

And until we remove "god" from our money and our allegiance pledge, religion will always be pushed on us by the government.

The topic of the this thread is Islam's attempt to limit what folks can say about their religion! Now all of sudden you guys start talking about Christians and catholics!!

Are you guys scared to criticize Islam when warranted??? This is warranted! Can they still call us infidels?? Is that okay?
