Once the coffers start getting filled with enormous amounts of cash, why wont congress use it for other programs like they always do? Or is this this perhaps the real reason to get hold of 1/6 of our GDP?

Of course, there is nothing to stop them from doing what you say and any fool could see that this whole thing is aimed at getting control of that much of our economy so they can put that with the ownership of all those banks and businesses they took over the last few months.

I think that you may even throw in some of the saving of unions and their promises to workers with the rest of what you suggested.
