Arianna Huffington's one comment does not equal "the left". One would have to be pretty narrow-minded and quick to judge in order to make such a conclusion.

I saw her make that comment, and disagreed with her when I heard her say it. So there - that's proof that not all of "the left" is represented by Arianna Huffington.

That was easy.

Um, Greece is not a Socialist country.

I think Beck is an absolute moron and I don't think he should be on the air, but he has a right to be on the air. I am just shocked that there are enough loony toons out there that are willing to listen to him.

Despite what you think of the man and his opinions, you can always turn the channel.

I hate to think this is actually how the typical lefty feels about Beck/First Amendment. Would any on the left like to comment?

Let me respond, by asking a question. Should there be any limit on what someone can broadcast publicly? If MSNBC had a host who repeatedly did stories on say a former Rep. VP candidate beating and abusing children. Should that be protected speech? At some point I do think it becomes the equivalent of yelling fire in a crowded theater. If reasonable standards could be created I wouldn't mind seeing them implemented. The caveat being I'm not sure how the line would be drawn. While I would lean towards allowing the speech, I do think some are abusing the right.

So let's ban books. That really helps with reading and critical thinking to take on the challenges of the 21 century. You left out science. I guess you don't want that taught either.

Everyone knows the left hates free speech. Marxists have always opposed free speech in the past, so it is no suprise. To them, "free speech" means only views that they agree with. See today's college campuses for examples. The left has perpetuated the legacy of Stalin and has promoted supression of free speech and independent thought through the weapons of political correctness and abject censorship, hardly tools of an "enlightened" group. Fascists come in all stripes and the modern liberal is just another enemy of liberty.

To answer your question, we have Libel, Slander & Defamation Laws to guard against that type of thing.

When I said reading, writing and arithmetic I meant the basic courses all kids need to graduate, I thought it was understood that way. Geesh.

Yes, health was taught in school but only a small fraction. Schools use to think parents were smart enough to teach basics of being a good person at home. Course, when the schools do not agree with parents opinions of what their kid needs to know and when they need to know it they start to micro-manage the parents and make the taxpayers pay for all the social programs in schools now.

All I know is American kids are falling far behind when compared to kids in other countries whose schools concentrate on teaching the basics.

Why is it that everytime 1 person from the left does something
the right inmediately says "Liberals showed their true face"

Same thing happened when Perez Hilton attacked Prejean
and the same thing happened when Newsweek showed that picture of Palin.
