There is a separation of church/state in this country.
If you make it for one, you ust make them for all religions.
I'd like to see a religious sign for Muslims.

Yes, it is absolutely wrong for the state to support any religion.
Thi is EXACTLY what people who want this plate on their car would be doing, BUYING it, just like any other personalized plate. If other religions want this, well, I'm sure the state could make a bundle in extra revenue stamping them out and charging extra come renewal time. This is NOT a state sponsorship of religion, though anti religious types be yowling like scalded cats about it. If these plates were a pic of a guy on a prayer rug under a crescent moon, is that OK? Or maybe an upside down cross, or pentagram? Would the anti Christian folks be howling so loudly about symbolism like that? Or is it just the Cross that is offensive? I'm OK with the idea of personal plates depicting an individuals faith, and I'm OK with them getting any symbolism they choose, within reason, (the line could be drawn with some of the so called "religions'). It's not the state that is paying for it, they are profiting from it though. Got something against religious types paying more taxes?

All religious icons are offensive to me.
It's a slippery slope and shouldn't occur.

You're being purposely obtuse if you don't get it.
I can just see cops giving/not giving tickets based on this drivel
Cars being vandalized by the "christian" behavior of others for not having one.
One upmanship for the uber-xians.
You're free to get xian license plate frames as you choose.
Or isn't that enough?

Try that little Matthew quote about practicing and praying in a closet.

if there is a christian based plate then you should be able to buy a muslim plate, jewish plate, 7th day adventist plate, atheist plate. Be fair about it and there is no issue.

All these issues would go away if people stopped using their faith as a decorating theme. How inappropriate.

I imagine SC is no different than NV. We don't buy license plates. They are property of the state, and can be confiscated for a number of reasons.

As long as the state is not requiring anyone to buy the license plate then I don't see how this is establishment of religion unless the state would not allow other religions to have their own religious tags. I want a festivus for the restuvus tag.

In other words, we have freedom of expression, but only expression that doesn't "offend" you. If you take offense to something, that's your problem.

The judge's excuse was that the state is "endorsing" a religion. Which would mean that a state is also endorsing everything that appears on a license plat (ham radio operators, cat lovers, etc). It's a stupid excuse and is only an excuse.

And to bash organized religion at any opportunity, but to insert Biblical references just makes you look like you're completely lost.

Those who choose to be offended (and it is just that - a choice) need to get a life and worry about other things.

Oh, please...don't give them any ideas.

Be my guest. Each to his own and I don't see anything wrong with it.

Why? How so? Why should people hide their faith?

Well, considering the states name is on the license plates I can see how it might be construed as state endorsement of a religion. And where do the funds go to? Do they go straight to the state, or to some organization? I know here in CA there are certain license plates that if you purchase them, they donate part of the proceeds to an organization.

I'm still a little bitter because I had my old truck vandalized because of the Darwin placard I had. The legs were torn off and 'JESUS SAVES' keyed into the side. Putting your religious affiliation (or lack thereof) can be dangerous to your possessions to say the least.
