The only standing case you have is with the Nazis, who actually DID try to destroy people (Jews, Gypsies, Slavs, Dissenters) in all of Europe, and after that the World.

dont be an a hole. you know good and well they were destroying them by breaking up families, considering them 3/5 of a person, taking away their culture.

Think about it, in 1861, what part of the world, anywhere, even parts of Africa, saw blacks as social equals or even human? Black Codes in the North which backed slave trade in the Atlantic, slavery in the South, Serfdom in South Africa and darn near anywhere else that saw them as little more than animals.

You cannot apply modern values on those of the past, you have to take those times in the context in which they were.

The Confederate flag represents a piece of American history. People seem to forget that real people died in the war of Northern Aggression. Many of my friends have relatives that were brutally killed in the war of Northern Aggression and I can guarantee they don't care what anyone else thinks.

God Bless The South and God Bless the Great State of South Carolina!

However seeing alot of hate towards both I just get stuck in mental ruts in what to think of it. And sometimes have trying periods that try to make sense of it all. Heck just a quick search on the web you can find the most vile and hateful things about the south and everything related.

I've never really been to the south before (unless you count East Texas) but I would really like to see it one day. But I have met countless people from there and I thought they were spectacular.
It is an official flag of those states' history and should be treated as such. If a Southern state capital had the stars and stripes flying above the old CSA flag, then non-citizens of those states have no business trying to lobby for changes to that arrangement.

Personally, I like seeing the pros/cons of history. Keeps us and the memory of what drove this nation to slaughter 620,000 of its own alive to remind us how far we have come. White washing history is never successful. At the same time, a Southern state flying the stars-and-bars or worse, the flags of the 1950s that incorporated the stars and bars in defense of segregation, has to deal with the fall out of rather peculiar branding in this day and age. Finally, if Southern states wish to vote in state amendments to prohibit the official flying of CSA flags, they can do so.

It was? They are? It is? THAT is your position?

Fair enough, if that is how you really feel? Please lay out your case as to how that the Southern states commited treason...? I want to just hear a definition of "treason". Can you do that?

THIS is just one I gotta hear...
