I have read and laughed and giggled my way through this thread and find it hard to understand that the very part of the NY Times article that joejitsu provided had too much of the answer. Read these words with a couple of my emphasizing things and the obvious answer is right there before everybody, even old joe.

The committee report, prepared at the request of Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts, the committee’s Democratic chairman, concludes unequivocally that in mid-December 2001, Mr. bin Laden and his deputy, Ayman al-Zawahri, were at the cave complex, where Mr. bin Laden had operated previously during the fight against Soviet forces.

The new report suggests that a larger troop commitment to Afghanistan might have resulted in the demise not only of Mr. bin Laden and his deputy but also of Mullah Muhammad Omar, the leader of the Afghan Taliban. Mullah Omar, who also fled to Pakistan in 2001, has overseen the resurgence of the Taliban.

Why is it that people don't understand key words like, might, in context with the words around them? Might is so key in that sentence and nobody mentioned it, at all.

If the dog hadn't stopped to crap he would have won the race, but dogs being dogs he did stop as they all do at a time like that.

Good question 'oldboy, why don't you ask it of your own ilk when they do the same thing? For instance when someone posts the word "liar" in a thread title when it should have been "misspoke"?

Naw, that is not nice to do. I try to keep away from calling anyone, even a lefty, liar. Since I don't do it I don't see the need to call others out for it.

That word might had nothing to do with being a llar or not being one. Therefore, I don't see that I wronged either the writer or the accepter of his words.
