You are very much correct, they would be out in a lynch mob, there is certainly a double standard, but why, he is no different. Send him a message, get out there and protests if your agains't him sending more troops, you were not afraid to get out there in record numbers when PAST presidents WERE doing the same, so why is this President any different. He Promised great change remember, if your happy great, but if your not, why not let your voices be heard, what are you afraid of. The Chicago style Politics. And the gosh dang media who portrayed him as a God certainly has not helped the situation, because GOD HE IS NOT.

It's hilarious that the election of Obama ended all objections to the wars in the Middle East and not only can Obama double the number of troops over there, not only can the numbers of deaths rise, he is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize while upping the war.

There have been protests. Many, actually. They're just not being covered by the media as much as they were when Bush was president. It's actually pretty smart not to cover them, then people like you can shake their fists and claim people are doing nothing and conversely blame Obama.

There were two protests in the past 2 weeks in my area that I know of personally.

October 1, 2009 : The GOP followers are awfully quiet about Afghanistan. They don't seem to know whether to support sending more troops, or oppose it or something else.

I think I know why: they don't know what the president will decide, so they don't know what to oppose. They will wait for Obama to decide, and then they will jump into opposing the decision, whatever it is. They think it would be embarrassing to voice their opinion now, and later realize that it turned out to be the same as the president's choice.

GOP and Afghanistan
What's really funny - and I could have predicted it with 100% accuracy is how the liberals are now solidly behind us being in Iraq and Afghanistan. If Bush were sending more troops at this point, there's be a big uproar, but since Obama the lib is doing it, the democrats are very hawkish. No longer is it a question whether we should even be there, the liberals now say yes we should.

In my eyes, the Nobel Prize might as well be toilet paper. It's been politicized to the point where it holds no status or respect for me.

i agree...too many things don't add up here..it's like there is a hidden agenda...they say we are fighting terrorism ..well aren't there terror groups in places like Ireland and other groups killing innocent people in African countries?...and Afganastan is not the only nation with terrorists in the middle east either.....so really what is the main goal going in there when we can not identify a terrorist since they blend in with the way the rest of the people look?.....this is like another Vietnam....there's no way to win this kind of war really....we will just create more people that want revenge for killing their brother or mothers and daughters
