On the surface, it sounds very crazy. However, part of the request by PETA also includes replacing the real bulldog with a costumed mascot which isn't so crazy. The robot part is crazy. Many flat face breeds have health problems because of the very thing breeders look for.

When will this end.

They need to shut the heck up.

Who cares what the Georgia Bulldogs are called anyway?

Give it a rest PETA.

You should have read the article before responding. They weren't asking the Georgia Bulldogs to change their name. They were asking them to not use a real bulldog as a mascot. The bulldog breed has been bred to the point of extreme health problems resulting in a much shorter and painful lifespan. They've been breeding them with flatter and flatter snouts to the point that some are sunken into the face resulting in horrible breathing problems. Many of these dogs come from puppy mills that specialize in specific breeds and are inbred over and over again. Many universities use a costumed mascots so it's not so farfetched an idea for Georgia to keep the name but use a costumed mascot as part of the cheerleading crew.
