I saw a advertisement on TV the wee hours of the morning Sunday for her book, it was being sold by Newsweek for $4.00. Why the drop in price?
I was at a Steakhouse the other night and they had their TV on Fox News. There was an ad for Newsmax magazine. They were offering a free copy of Palin's book with each new magazine subscription.
I've seen similar offers elsewhere on the web and tv.
I'm not in the publishing businesss, so I don't know how the numbers are calculated, but I would think the number of books Newsmax bought (or acquired) to give away as freebies counts in that million.

Well, seeing as how I've seen Coulter's whiney little books on there I have no idea. You really expect us to believe they'll put Coulter up as a best seller and not Palin? Why should anyone believe that?
"Going Rogue" joins a select club of million-selling political memoirs that includes Barack Obama's "The Audacity of Hope," Hillary Rodham Clinton's "Living History" and Bill Clinton's "My Life."
We knew people would buy it. I don't know that it is "amazing." I'm sure all those "free with subscription" copies counted in the million. I wonder how many of them are still sitting in a warehouse somewhere.

I read all 16 books in the Left Behind series... they weren't that great, but they did appeal to the religious fanatics who like reading about how THEY will be the chosen ones and all the people they don't like will disappear/go to hell. Kind of macabre if you think about it.
Plus, the bestseller lists doesn't take into account books sold at Christian only bookstores. I agree with that, only generalized books stores should be included.
