"'President Obama previously served as ACORN’s lawyer, participated in ACORN training sessions in Chicago, and presided on the board of two organizations that funded ACORN’s Chicago chapter,” said Smith. An old picture of Obama in an ACORN office was posted near the hearing stand to bolster his point. “The president’s ties with ACORN taint any conclusions the Department of Justice may reach with regard to whether or not to investigate ACORN employees. That’s why I’ve requested that the attorney general appoint a special prosecutor to investigate ACORN.'”

Well these pinheads (GOP) might have had some validity had their "hearing" not been one liar after another spouting the same old talking points and allegations.

In fact several years ago the REPUBLICAN PARTY, in Florida (don't remember if it was a county GOP) was CONVICTED of voter fraud for DESTROYING legitimately filled out voter registrations, of course they only destroyed those that registered as Democrats.

Maybe Holder should investigate the GOP?

Same scenario in Pennsylvania and several western states as well. That's where many of these laws requiring voter registration drives to turn in ALL cards submitted -- even the ones that say Mickey Mouse -- came from.

Bet he won't do it. A special prosecutor would bring to light things that would destroy the Obama administration because of their ties to ACORN. They want to sweep ACORN and anything to do with it under the rug.

Republicans are increasingly sensitive to the charge that they are just the Party of No and never actually do anything. This is their crude attempt to look like they're doing something...

The appointment of a Special Prosecutor might be a very good idea for the Obama Administration. It would clearly distance the Administration from the ACORN issue / scandal and allow the President to honestly say that he wants to get to the bottom of the issue - and if improprieties were committed - then appropriate action can be taken. Likewise, if there was NOTHING inappropriate - an independent investigation can put the issues to bed.

Might just be a good idea
