I agree. I too am surprised by this.

Nita
That was the case here. Apparently she actually was very private about it, but US Weekly got a hold of the story and was going to post it, along with pictures of her on vacation with her partner, so she decided to just come out publically.

I never liked that show. I thought Alex was a tool, his parents were pretentious phonies and Tina Yothers, the youngest daughter, was pretty odd. But Mallory, Justine bateman, she was hot. It hit rock bottom when they had Baxter's kid on as the youngest son.
But the dad, who played Michael Keaton, he did have a career high as the gun toting survivalist who with his wife, Reba Macintyre, shot and killed those mutant worms in the movie "Tremors."

Oh gee what a shocker! Why is it that the most obvious gays feel like they are making a shocking announcement. Seriously, you had to be a moron if you thought Ellen Degeneris, Rosie O'donnel, Lance Bass, Adam Lambert and Clay Aiken were straight.

I don't assume that she thought of it as a shocking announcement. It's possible that she wanted to do it for the attention - celebrities tend to like getting attention. Or, maybe she felt like it would be good for society to hear about it; as some have mentioned, they never would have guessed that she is a lesbian.

I wasn't suprised by her announcement but I didn't suspect she was either. But many in Hollywooed like Ellen were so obviously gay that when she announced it, it was just a joke that she was on the cover of Time for that. It made me laugh how so many Americans were truly that clueless. I remember how some people were like "What Adam Lambert is gay, say it isn't so" or Clay Aiken

I didn't know she was still alive. I'm less skeptical about her coming out than I am about her claim of 62.
