I'll never understand the opposition to gay marriage.
I still do not believe that it is the baliwick of any state, or federal government to tell the citizens who may marry whom. There was a line I heard somewhere, something about "life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness".

Indeed. I can't imagine how I would feel if a group decided to tell me I couldn't be married to my hunny. I wouldn't be as passive as most gay folk I know, that's for sure.
From all the insults hurled at the south by northern liberals, New York must surely be in the south, otherwise, they would not have shot down gay marriage, right?
Or maybe there are a lot more people than just southern conservatives that are against it. Maine just overturned it, and last time I looked at a map, it was not in the south.
Funny thing is, I'm a life long southerner currently living in TX, Christian fiscal conservative, and I have no problem with gay marriage. Or legalizing marijuana for that matter.

You didn't notice that California was picked as a test case because its so liberal in lifestyle but when out to a vote they loss. I think there is alot of backlash aginst the radcial gay movement ;plain and simple.
Hey, We go to the south all the time and like it. I do not like, however, the northeast and west coast, as the people are not nearly as friendly as the south or midwest. Let's keep the libs on the coasts and away from the rest of the population.
Speak for yourself! In the South, it's considered hunting season on minorities, homosexuals and non-Christians regardless of their political views. The South is only friendly to Christian heterosexual whites. I'm an educated conservative Republican and I experienced a lot of racism in the South. The west coast is the best place to live in the country. Why do you think the cost of living is highest on the west coast? The demand to live there is so ridiculously high. As a physician, you can't even practice in California if you want to make any money because it's so saturated with doctors. If people have a choice, they will move to the west coast just like they did in the 90's and early 2000's when the economy was strong.

Well, almost every state in the US has more people who are opposed to gay marriage than those who are in support of gay marriage. Even in liberal California, 54% of people there are against gay marriage.
Okay, you sound very determined and angry about this, but you're essentially saying that all of the news reports about the constitutional amendment process in Iowa are wrong, and that you're right.
