I sincerely believe that the liberal mind is convinced that Bush had something to do with the President McKinley asassination or the Linbergh kidnapping.
He was an alcoholic until he found God, who told him he should be president.

I would think the number would be 0%, otherwise what's the point in getting the test and putting undue risk unto the fetus.

I think most people make up their mind to carry to term and just don't get these unnecessary tests.

People who are committed to carying to term regardless of test results test so they can prepare if the baby has special needs. Tha is what why we did.

We did that as well. Fortunately, our daughter is genetically normal.

How about you address the FACT that your thread title and the entire thing for that matter is INCORRECT. Did you even read the article? It was over the last 30 YEARS!!! Moderator cut: RUDE

Here let me help you. This is the FIRST sentence in the damn article.

The number of U.S. babies born with Down syndrome has increased by nearly one-third over the last three decades, despite the large number of women choosing to end those pregnancies, according to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (http://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/bd/ds.htm - broken link).

A friend in Chicago was told she would have a downs syndrome baby and she should abort it. She chose to accept what God had given them and she delivered a healthy normal boy! I think they need some new tests!

Amniocentesis is damn near 100%!

Midtrimester amniocentesis for prenatal diagnosis.... [JAMA. 1976] - PubMed result

Pregnancy: Amniocentesis

So is CVS.

Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS) (http://74.125.113.132/search?q=cache:fD5q-VjqB5QJ:www.reproductivegenetics.com/cvs.html+chorionic+villus+sampling+accuracy&cd=1&h l=en&ct=clnk&gl=us - broken link)

You should ask your friend what test she had. It would be unethical to tell someone they "should" abort.

I know a woman who had amnio at the advice of her dr due to her age and the amnio caused a miscarriage. They found out later that the tests came back 'chromosonally normal'. It was for nothing.

I don't know -- I realize that the risks of miscarriage after amnio or CVS are small, yet when it happens to people you know it does make the risk all the more real, and perhaps not worth taking.
