Well we have our right to vote next year. And I believe the liberal spend happy Big Government Dems are going to pay the price for being so short sighted.

This ultimately Proves Obama and Bush are no different. Two Presidencies based on Gigantic Intrusive Governments filled with complete ineptitude.

Health care bill---Will have to hire 25000 people to start hundreds of new government jobs to enact. With all his new programs, the government will be the only one's working.

The horror, that Obama and those libs, wanting to spend our tax money repairing our own country instead of spending it spreadin democracy and fightin terrra. Why do we need to spend money on repairing failing bridges, road improvements, and money to make air traffic safer. Heck why do we even need an FAA, the government is getting too big. I swear Obama and them socialist, trying to make us look like Socialist Sweden and France, with their commie high speed rail and transportation networks. Definitely don't want to spend money on things like the Japanese did either with their lighting fast Internet, we'll just stick with what we got, cuz it's the best and American!.... /END Sarcasm

I mean seriously, the man can't do anything right according to some of you. What's wrong with this kind of "government" spending?

That is not tax money they collected and have "in their hands".
This is future money they want to borrow. That figure is on paper only..they would have to issue billions of new debt to finance this.

So, it's not OUR tax money it's our grandkid's tax money cause we already spent ours and our immediate children's tax money. We're now into the next generation of working Americans borrowing on their future tax revenue.

One month it's healthcare, then infrastructure, then clean energy. Borrowing money like crazy.

This left wing radical with a marxist philosophy is suckering alot of people.
Nonsense. Our infrastructure has been allowed to rot since about the time we left Vietnam. We've known of the need to repair and replace all forms of infrastructure for a long time, from water and sewer systems to the thousands of old bridges that we've heard about for years. Our power grid is a known issue for being obsolete and we could sure use about 100 new nuclear power plants to replace the coal burners that have been poisoning our air for generations. Obama didn't invent this requirement, it's been left of the plate for the "next guy" for a long time, and at all levels of government. Fixing these issues can and will put a lot of people to work, but we have to pay for it and that's the rub, too many people don't want to pay for what they get.

So what do you suggest we do? I'm being serious, we can't just let our infrastructure fall apart. We have to spend this money or your kids. I know conservatives don't want to hear this, but why wasn't there outrage during the Bush years with the spending on overseas wars? I would benefit directly from better roads, high speed rail, safer air travel, and high quality broadband infrastructure, versus benefiting from an overseas war that doesn't impact me directly at all.

The problem is many economists criticized the Recovery Act because it didn't focus enough funding into major infrastructure improvements. Major improvements in infrastructure would have multiplied spending more than we are currently seeing and it would have created an increase in AD that would have lasted much longer. The best part of major infrastructure spending is that it creates jobs and takes people off entitlements. I am all for a second stimulus. I supported the second stimulus as soon as I read the first stimulus bill because I knew the first bill wouldn't cut it. There was too much spending and not enough stimulus. I also support everyone that is against the second stimulus. They have every right to be angry. The federal government ignored the critics and they screwed up the first stimulus.

What happened to the last huge "infrastructure" bill, passed back around '04, that was supposed to address these issues? IIRC that was a big deal back in the day, it was the largest infrastructure bill of all time. Did it get blown on pork and corruption instead of fixing the problems it was supposed to address?
