Houston gets earliest snowfall on record | AP Texas News | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/tx/6753784.html - broken link)

Quote:
HOUSTON — Houston had its earliest snowfall on record Friday, with several inches accumulating in counties southwest of the city.
The previous record for early snow in Houston was Dec. 10 in 1944 and again last year, said Charles Roeseler, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
Snow is rare in the nation's fourth largest city. In the past 15 years, it has snowed four times, including Friday.
Accumulations of 3 to 4 inches of snow were reported in counties southwest of Houston. The city got a half inch or less of snow, and its suburbs reported 1 to 2 inches, according to the National Weather Service.

I'm in Lafayette, Louisiana and we also got snow flurries. Ground's too wet for it to stay on the ground though there was some ice and slush on the steps. We're not too far from the gulf coast. Most snow flurries we've had have been in February.

That's good, because intelligent people understand that one weather event is not indicative of a city's long-term climate.

For the record, I'm an agnostic on climate change, but I think it's silly that either side ascribes individual weather events to climate change or the absence thereof.

Algore is hiding out these days since he won't be throwing his crap at the people in Copenhagen and he knows that his game is coming to an end.

Of course, this early snow fall in Houston is an example of global warming.

BUT this was the earliest date by too many days for Houston on record. Now they have to admit in the future that their earliest date for snow was December 4, 2009.

Somehow I failed to see anyone talking about warming until some prog did it.

It was 70 degrees in Boston yesterday which for December is more remarkable than snow falling a little early in Houston.

Really? It has not started snowing here and it usually does not begin until Jan now.

Does that mean Global Warming is real?

OBVIOUSLY, you CANNOT base it on city. Duh!
