Would you just shut up and relax if they had a sign on the public fire station saying "Happy Eid" or "Happy Diwali"?

You know, I would not care. I just don't get so excited about things that really do not matter in my life. Liberals are so sensitive and easily pissed off- that is what makes them so unhappy.

Passover and Chanukkah are both represented by candles, which were actually used in biblical times on these occassions. Maybe an occasional dradel here and there, but there is nothing garrish used as displays on Jewish holidays and Jews probably enjoy the lesser amount of commercialism surrouding their holidays.
I think the brewhaha over this is all a bit much, but knowing even the basics of Judaism I would be somewhat irritated in the fact that for some stupid reason christians seem to think that hanukkah is somehow christmas' equal.
They are two totally different things!
it is not a jewish christmas.
and the historical facts of hanukkah are about the oil in the lamp which should have lasted only ONE night miraculously turned into enough for EIGHT nights...hence the menorah! DUH.
It's the restriction on the displaying of the menorah for one night that is totally insulting.
ok, then again i'm not even jewish...but still.
It is Mass. and well, they reek of ignorance in that state anyway (including some of my own family members who still reside there) we don't call 'em m*******s for no reason!

In summary, it is not really about the religious freedom thing, it's about this town's blatant display of ignorance and stupidity.

We still have a Nativity in our front yard and not generic things which equal "happy holidays".
No, I know what I'm talking about. These are considered Christmas decorations by everyone that has the bad taste to display them. Some lawns just have reindeer and no nativity scenes and yes they are using them as their Christmas decorations. What about the lights? What did they have to do with the birth of Christ? I would understand a single light to symbolize the star, but all of thse energy wasting lights that have nothing to do with Jesus.

What? Because Jews don't participate in the Christlike "Black Friday"?
Jews did not allow their holiday to be tainted with all of the commercialism. Interesting that the song says there are twelve days of Christmas, but after the gifts are opened you never hear another word about it even on the boob tube except for after Christmas sale commercials.

I really don't care. Since I'm a non believer I just like sit back and let everyone else fight amongst themselves and help myself to another glass of egg nog. Kind of like Chirstmas at my in-laws.

I don't mind the complaining as much as I mind the whole ordeal of involving the legal system over petty issues such as this.

I think that it is much ado about nothing. They might not even realize that you light one more candle each night until it is all lit and just figure that you light them all at once on one night. I know that this giving them the benefit of the doubt, but some people really are that ignorant. Look, I'm Jewish and I'll forgive them because I actually could not care less if a non Jewish community doesn't light Channukah candles.
