We don't get trounced, we get DUPED!

Many Republicans run like conservatives and rule like liberals.

George Bush never met a spending bill he wouldn't sign. In my opinion, he was a nice man and a social conservative. Is that enough?

Then there's McAmnesty, a bi-partisan liberal effort. Dems wanted Dem voters, Repubs liked cheap labor for business. It resulted in Holy Matrimony between Ted Kennedy and John McCain. If it went through, we all would have been hosed. Who could forget Lindsey Graham's drama queen act after the public squashed McAmnesty. I think it topped Howard Dean's scream on over-the-top political theater.

And tax-raising Mike Huckabee (pushed for a sales tax increase in 1996, 2002 and 2004, and a fuel tax in 1999) is no conservative, either, but he presents himself like one. Both the Club for Growth (fiscal conservatives) and the Cato Institute gave him an F for taxing and spending when he was governor and that grade is not even counting his support for illegal immigration or the murderer he set loose thing. I would never support him for President on just social issues, alone.

Then you've got Romney and his healthcare ugly baby in Massachusetts. Do you really think he got elected in Massachusetts because he was a conservative? And yet, he tried to present himself like one.

Then there's party hopper Arlen Specter who didn't even have to change his ways after switching parties.

Newt Gingrich, "Mister I made an ad about climate change with Pelosi and endorsed a big lib Republican in NY" dances around conservatism, too.

Please don't tell me Arnold Schwartzenegger is conservative and Charlie Crist is all of a sudden digging for his conservative bonafides to run for office after publicly sucking up to Obama and stimulus spending.

Republican doesn't equal Conservative.

But how come we get dupped by "conservatives" and "liberals" alike? We need a true conservative. One more like Eisenhower, or Reagan. We don't need any psudo-conservative liars like Bush and company. ...and we don't need any psudo-liberal socialists like Obama either.

Since "Hope and Change" is looking a lot like "Bait and Switch" I think we may see another party back pretty soon.

I am referring to switching HEALTHCARE REFORM to HEALTH INSURANCE REFORM...we have been had.

It is a known fact that the majority of people in this country fall into the center-right political category (roughly 60%). Why then do the election results always end up being a neck-and-neck tie between the two parties, with one party usually winning by such a small margin every election? (sometimes within 100 votes!) Seems odd, given all of the political differences between both sides...

I could understand one or two elections in history having such a close tie, but the fact that most elections are SO close makes you wonder if foul play is taking place behind the scenes.... It seems too coincidental that with millions upon millions of votes, the election result always comes down to such a close count.

I feel the media is largely responsible for why the GOP tend to start out strong during the elections, and end up fading out towards the end. The news networks have a way of twisting the news, ever so slightly, to give it a bias favoring the democrats. The pattern i've noticed is this: start the story with neutral tone, point out positives favoring the GOP, point out slightly more substantial positives favoring the DEMS, and end the story with a negative point about the GOP. When you finish reading or watching this news story, you get a subtle sense of favoritism towards the democratic candidate. If you ask yourself afterwords which candidate was made to sound better in that story, the democrat would usually always win out.

If the media can propagate this effect of subtle persuasion among the 300 million people in this country, they can really coax a lot of people into believing one candidate is better simply based on manipulation of words. Its all psycology...

Nobody will ever know which candidate everyone votes for in this country during election time. We trust that the media will tell us the truth. Unfortunately the media is very left-biased, and people need to start thinking independently to get around this. Polls themselves are very manipulatory in that they take advantage of the fact that many people tend to follow the pack... 'casual' voters who don't really care either way, or are unaware of the real story behind the candidates, tend to blatantly pick the person most popular on the polls, or the one that all their friends are talking about. Obama had a huge leg up here in that he was HUGELY popular among the masses! You goto Facebook, for example, and there are about 20,000 groups created praising the guy. The youth voters fell victim to the popularity factor and ended up voting for someone they didn't really know too much about, let alone the consequences of voting for that person.

Its all manipulation performed by the media. The media drives society whether you want to believe it or not. It helps drives the economy by altering peoples moods (consumer confidence) and to promote certain agendas by, again, subtle persuasion.

The sooner people come to realize just how much we have been duped, the sooner we can get society back on track. People need to think independently. They need to think about their situation and how certain things affect their situation. Stop following popularity, that is key.
My media-induced political ignorance was the reason why I was a democrat for so long. Once I realized that conservatives were NOT evil as the media implied, I was able to logically evaluate the political options and realized that I was more of a conservative versus liberal. Unfortunately, I don't really feel as if either of the two political parties trully represent me politically and are too much alike.

Be careful...Conservatives are not as evil as the media implies, but they are not as good as they should be. Similar statement about liberals--they are not as evil as the media implies, but they are not as good as they should be either. The point is: Neither side has cornered the market on stupiditiy and lying. Neither side has a vision of how to make America great again. Both sides pander.

Because conservatives like Palin -- and not ones like Bill Buckley - are the shrill ones who are presented to us. They get the base vote but lose anyone in the middle/left within the Rep party, plus they lose the independents.
