You know, there are a large portion of people that live in this country who actually want the United States to function better as a whole, and they have the opinion that things like passing this bill would benefit us in the long run.

As far as moving to the countries that have that sort of system, do you have any idea how incredibly difficult it is to move to a different county of your choice, AND be counted among the citizens who would receive the free government health care they provide? I know myself, because I am trying to move to Norway to live with my boyfriend, and the list of requirements to reside there is honestly mind blowing.

The easiest route, it seems to be, would be for us to get married and have him forgo his education, see if he can get a job, and make enough money to actually support me to the point the government would allow me to live there with him. Even then, I would need to be living there for, I believe, one year before I would get any of their free health care whatsoever.

Just because a person doesn't get health insurance from a job doesn't mean that they can't purchase some privately. Work enough jobs until you can afford to support your family. End of story.

LOL. I suppose that's easy for anyone to say, but do you really think that people are going to let a stranger into their home to clean just because they show up with a mop? That sort of thing could be dangerous for the aspiring janitor as well. You don't say whether you are male or female but I think that women in particular would not want to just enter someone's home.

I do agree with you that tough times require persistence but realistically, what you advocate probably isn't safe and in some neighborhoods may not be legal.

It's my understanding that private health insurance can be quite costly and with those pesky matters such as housing costs and food, I can see how some people put it on the back burner. There might not be enough hours in the day to "work enough jobs".

I think that it reflects badly on those of us who have been fortunate enough not to lose our jobs in this economy to blame those who have for the misfortune that they are experiencing.

About the parents you mention...some just aren't responsible and never will be. Do we let the children die, then? Social Darwinism has been proven time and time again not to be an effective evolutionary tool.

Yes in deedy... you have it all worked out.

I pay currently pay about $3500 a year for a Health Insurance policy with a $5,000 deductible... I have needed a "procedure" for a while now but I can't afford the deductible. I also need a cap on one of my teeth but that's another $750.

You are really getting on my nerves.

Default Government is suppose to run the country

No, the central committe in Washington is not supposed to run the country. The country would tick along just great if they limited their meddling to powers allocated to them under the consitution.

It is all about accruing power to the Federal Government under whatever guise so that all money passes through their hands to their personal benefit and that of the special interests they favor. Stupid people are suppose to be so relieved when the crooks give a little back.

And I wish that angry people with bigoted, ignorant, and self righteous little attitudes who seem to "think" that this country belongs to only them would step across the pond themselves.

Really, I can give you a salmon pate recipe to die for that will make you the hit of your own wine and cheese party. You should try eating more seafood; it's healthy and it promotes brain cell production

1. You don't have to be treated. You have to be screened for a life-threatening emergency. If you don't have one, they can give you the boot. And that is what is happening more and more around the country...because hospitals can't afford to just hand out free care to everyone who walks in the door with a cold.

2. It's a screwed up law in the first place. The govt wants to force hospitals to see non-paying patients, but they don't reimburse the doctors or the hospitals for the visit. Wtf is that about?

3. You don't think there's something wrong with there being 'little penalty' for not paying your bills? That's f'd up. You have no right to anyone else's labor. Under any circumstances.

4. California is the worst example you can use for health care...they treat their medical personnel super-crappy, which is why they have been flocking to Texas in droves.
Stan as a self described medical professional, I find it incredulous the Hippocratic Oath should be foreign language. You went into the field because it pays 6 figures? You're only willing to treat patients who make 6 figures?

I strongly disagree with the health care bill AS IT IS WRITTEN, but not on principle of needing massive reforms. Would you be familiar with the administrative end of a hospital, you should be morally repulsed at the charge offs and cost shifting that's been going on for decades. You don't care so long as you get your money? You have no right to anyone else's labor under any circumstances.

Healthcare as it has been in the states is only for the wealthy. There is something morally bankrupt with a nation who would turn their back on those who work full time jobs at meager pay and as much tell them they were too stupid to get a 'real' job and deserve to die. We thought that changed when insurance came around. Doctors and patients made compromises to smooth out the financial bumps but the insurance companies got greedy. Doctors and administrators working the system abused insurance. The gov't, in the form of unfunded mandates, abused the system. Patients (deadbeat) abused the system. Insurance companies themselves abused the system, and continue to do so even in this moment.

When they're gunning at your salary so they can have a larger profit at the end of the year, you expect patients to come to your aid and defense? When salaries of your patients have not kept up with the cost of living, do you come to their aid and defense? No, you complain AT THEM about the taxes on your 6 figures. You would not have made those 6 figures if not for your patients. Find some respect.

I can say this much to neocon philosophers enamored with this perversion of capitalism and defense of anti trust: It's a good thing our military personnel aren't playing by your rulebook of passive aggression holding out for "more more more, I me mine, I'll do a crappy job if you don't pay me enough."

You're finding every excuse you can to blame the unemployed for their unemployment. I'm not impressed.
