Poor Mexico. So far from God and so close to the United States.
—Porfirio Díaz, dictator of Mexico from 1876 to 1880 and 1884 to 1911

Those famous words came to mind when another man named Díaz offered me an equally concise observation about the realities of life in the country today: “In Mexico it is dangerous to speak the truth. It is even dangerous to know the truth.”

I know I'll get slammed for saying this, but it's hard not to sympathize with the people who want to get out of there at any cost.

I have sympathy and respect for those Mexicans who remain in their country and are trying to build something, make their country better, but it seems far too many are only impressed with money and material things in the USA and really don't care one iota about their own country. They'll gladly let it go down like a sinking ship, as long as they can run to the USA they're more than happy.

Mexicans have been trying to make their country better since Napolean ruled it. None have succeeded so far. You seem to want to paint a picture of all mexicans fleeing their country as desperados and lazy falures. This is just not true. Same with your cell phone post. You paint a picture of lazy reprobates and welfare queens working the system. Sure there are some but that's not the reality of the majority.
