Absolutely correct. In fact, I think the poster was just looking for some attention.

You are welcome to disagree all you want but the quote above yours in bold is indicative of the general populace and certainly around here. As a person who has likely read more posts in the entire PoC forum over the past several years than anyone else, I can say with some certainty that there very much is a belief that (chants) were #1 were #1 were #1 (waves foam #1 giant finger painted red, white, and blue)

Aside from that example, you can read the tone of many posts in this thread and if you like, I'd be more than willing to bet that there are at least 100 posts within the past month that reference the US being "superior" in some if not every fashion.

Now I only have to ignore the hundreds of ignorant posts and threads to not believe Americans are ignorant.

LOL I know that poster from the Miami Forum. He's a cool kid, probably had too much to drink or was being sarcastic.

To a point I agree with you. That "to heck with the world because we're #1" attitude does exist in America. I'm feeling a Lewis Black clip coming on

Do you feel that C-D posters are a good representation of America? Personally, I don't.

Then again, many european nations are no bigger than most states in our country. I wonder how many people in european nations know about our individual 50 states? People like you love to bash on America. In this case, keep in mind that the majority of American public school teachers are liberal members of the Democratic party and many belong to a teacher's union. If you think Americans are so stupid, go ask them why they don't teach their students properly. Perhaps we need to put conservative non-union teachers in charge of our nation's education system to correct the problem.
Perfectly said!

In my opinion that's more important actually. Knowing Kazakhstan's location sounds more trivial than an unwanted pregnancy or an incurable STD.

If I were a foreigner and formed my opinions of the US from some of the people on C-D, I would think all Americans must be the first in their families to walk upright

Yes and no. No because those people who hang in forums such as this are actually more politically minded than your run of the mill Dilbert in cubicals and water coolers across America. Most peoples faces recoil in horror at the mere mention of politics, so those here are different in this respect, as they seek it out.

Yes for deeper reasons in that the United States is separated from the rest of the world by two of the worlds largest oceans east and west, and two large friendly nations north and south. We in this country have very little exposure to how the vast majority of the rest of the world lives, their forms of government and cultures. If it weren't for books, the internet and media, most Americans would have no idea that a world exist beyond their own driveway, let alone in some funny sounding country on the other side of the planet.

Then the information we get from news and media on foreign countries is filtered and Americanized for our consumption. When we see some news clip from a place like BBC or Al Jeezra, the first response from nearly everyone is... OH its biased, yadda yadda while at the same time they would assume die than to admit their news from their country doesn't have an Americanized slant. Its quite baffling really.

So while we are geographically isolated from the majority of the worlds nations, we are also isolated in terms of the information presented to the majority of Americans. That which doesn't conform to said model is denounced as heresy. So while this isolation serves to protect us, I think it also serves to keep us ignorant for the same reasons.
