He has to say "allegedly" because his policy on acts of terrorism against the US is to treat them as criminal acts, to be taken care of in the criminal courts.

So instead of this terrorist being taken by the CIA or FBI for questioning, they have bestowed upon him all the rights of an American citizen, including lawyering up. Now, I wonder how much information about his cell in Yemen and their future plans we will get from him.

Horrible, terrible policy.

This editorial is a must read;

Editorial: It's time to revisit U.S. terror policy | detnews.com | The Detroit News (http://detnews.com/article/20091229/OPINION01/912290309/1008/opinion01/Editorial--It-s-time-to-revisit-U.S.-terror-policy - broken link)

Has President Obama's shift to a law enforcement strategy for fighting terror left the nation less safe?

Yes, indeed he has.

No, I'm an American who is proud of my country and the way our legal system operates.

I read your post, can you please clarify by answering the questions asked?

Perhaps you would prefer to live in a country that does not presume innocence until trial?

He is always walking on eggshells around the word terror. What is his problem? Scary that the people that so many Americans voted for a man like this to lead this country. Obama and his idiots are betraying us and setting us up for another big attack on our soil. Come on obama- say it – This is a War on Terror.
So you'd like to see this guy walk away from committing this crime? That is what could happen if government officials and the media start dropping the word "allegedly" when they talk about it on the air. Sure he was caught "red handed" or in this case "red crotched" but in this country he'll need to go through a trial before we can throw him in jail and throw away the key.

Was the officer arrested pending trial?

We're talking about using the term "allegedly" to describe someone awaiting trial.
You clearly have forgotten the circumstances. It was screwy Louie Gates who was arrested and Obama said the cop acted stupidly for arresting him. Obama injected himself into the case before it went to trial. And yes charges were pending against screwy Louie.

Charges had already been dropped when Obama made his (albeit stupid) comments.

Obama Criticizes Police in Henry Louis Gates Case - ABC News

"My understanding is that Professor Gates then shows his I.D. to show that this is his house and, at that point, he gets arrested for disorderly conduct, charges which are later dropped," Obama said.
They were dropped on the 21st, Obama made his comment on the evening of the 22nd.

You are right. It still doesn't change the fact Obama had no problem calling the actions of a police officer stupid without all the facts but gives the benefit of the doubt to a terrorist act witnessed by several people, you can view his underwear on the internet. To use the word alleged is insulting. Does he say say Osama Bin Laden allegedly mastermind 9/11?

He gave a personal opinion that the arrest was stupid. Personally, I think he should have not commented. Can we agree there is a huge difference between that case and using the term alleged to describe someone awaiting trial? They have nothing to do with each other.

It is not insulting, it is following the laws of our country. Again - we cannot pick and choose when to follow our laws or it makes us just as bad as the terrorists.

We can't pick and choose who is presumed innocent until trial - it defeats the entire purpose of having that policy in place.

A murder is an alleged murderer until he is convicted - even if there is an eyewitness.

Our President should lead by example and respect the laws of our country. We do not need another person playing Cowboy.

Does he say Osams Bin Laden "allegedly" masterminded 9/11? He is picking and choosing.
