"Garden-gate? On the Iron Chef reality show Sunday night, FLOTUS Michelle Obama, in a cameo appearance, bragged about the sweet potatoes she had grown in her White House miracle garden. Many of you have emailed in, questioning the veracity of her claim. Inquiring minds want to know...check out the First Lady's on-line "planting plan"--no sweet potatoes listed! If, indeed, sweet potatoes were never grown in the garden, how did FLOTUS and the competing chefs pull sweet potatoes out of the ground at the White House? Was Desiree Rogers anywhere in vicinity in couture gardening togs??"

What the hell is the point of this thread, other than to show how dizzy Laura is?

Two votes for "no one cares". I guess that's all it takes to make it official.

I care. I'm a sweet potato fan. They are extremely nutritious. WHY are there no sweet potatoes in the WH garden?

Seems the garden may not be organic.

"During the 1990s, the Clintons agreed to have the South Lawn of the White House "fertilized" with ComPRO, a commercially available "compost made from a nearby wastewater plant's solid effluent, a.k.a. sewage sludge."

I wonder what happens to the "unused" food that is grown there... I wonder if people are hired to take care of this garden (that taxpayers have to pay) and if its cheaper to just go to the grocery store to pick it up... "how green" is this small garden? That would be my question... if 95% of the stuff is thrown away, I suggest that the garden is an abomination to the "green" movement but whatever... people prefer ideology than reality..
