kudos to the president for coming to an understanding we are at a war with Al Queda. Now please treat it like a war. And treat the soldiers of this war as soldiers at war.

I disagree. Al Quida is an international criminal gang attempting to extort political and economic advantage from the civilized world. I suggest using police forces to investigate, find, arresst, try and hang these pirates.

He said it in his inauguration speech and many times since then. Just because Cheney and Palin insist that Obama doesn't use the word doesn't make it true.

Why do you think he sent 21 000 US troops to Afgnahistan in March and now 30 000 more? To sell candy? No, to fight a war.

It IS a war, though a new kind of war. I'm glad he finally acknowledged that. Let's see if it makes a difference in the way he approaches it.

Oh, did you just read his inauguration speech?
"Our nation is at war against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred."
Or maybe his speech at West Point about the Afghanistan war?
"It's easy to forget that when this war began, we were united -- bound together by the fresh memory of a horrific attack, and by the determination to defend our homeland and the values we hold dear. I refuse to accept the notion that we cannot summon that unity again."
Or did Fox "News" just have another of their "fair and balanced" stories??

Then, why is he treating them like US citizens and common criminals? Since when does the US mirandize prisoners of war and grant them all the rights of citizens?

Does that sound like a Commander-in-Chief who is a bit confused?

Oh, I forgot. Maybe it's that he doesn't really mean anything he says.

But he won't...........it was just rhetoric to keep critics off his back.

He does not believe America is a good country. He believes WE asked for the attacks..He and Holder go after FOX news and the CIA with more fervor.

Let's think about that....hmmm...who INSISTED that we DO NOT call them prisoners of war?

Who was it? Was it Bush/Cheney or was it Obama?

Answer: It was Bush/Cheney, and for Cheney to come out and say something as stupid as he said, is outrageous.

Talk about double standard, and of course all his minions rally around his every word without realizing they just made a complete fool out of themseleves.

If he thinks we are at war why does he insist on civilian trial for prisoners of war

You know, that could have something to do with the "systemic failure" to connect the dots and prevent this underwear bomber from boarding the plane. I suspect there are more than just a few employees throughout the system who are watching their backsides and second guessing themselves because they're afraid to do something for which they can later be brought up on charges. Stuff that was standard operating procedure before, now they have to worry about. Same with our military in the field. They'll get killed for a moment's hesitation. It's a shame people can't do their jobs conscientiously without worrying about losing their jobs.

Of course, Obama isn't going to address the Administration's contribution to this.
