Is this the future life style of America? With so many right wing evangelical Americans either arming to the teeth ,or wanting to, it's easy to see this scenario played over and over in the near future.

"If your deputies come onto my property, bring body bags. Gray had perhaps 16 other people, including several grandchildren, living at his modest home and outbuildings at the time. Armed family members, including Gray's wife, Alicia, took turns patrolling the property. That worried authorities — so much so that even when Gray began skipping court appearances, they didn't go arrest him."

It's typical of the liberal media to equate a crazy cult like Waco to average Americans who want to protect their right to bear arms.

A better example to use would have been Ruby Ridge, but the government played the bad guy in that one and liberals don't like it when they're proven to be in the wrong.

As I recall, Ruby Ridge was under Bush 41's watch, so the liberal connection sort of fails me. By the way, that was no criticism of Bush.

No itsd just one of a series of armed confrotational governamnt actions. If you think this is radical look at teh nmerous left wqing confrontaions of violence in the 60's and early 70's in thsi country and even in geramny where the red guard assinated many political leaders.Of course since then many left wing environemtalist have bombed and burnt to get their point acrosss. that is not to mention the left wing groups that rioted and burn parts of many cities in the 60's.I would say that is why its such a pleasure to see acutal large gathering of the texa party people with no viloence and families verus the WTO and other portest by the violent left thugs.

Default Home Grown Terrorism

Tim McVeigh used Waco as a justification for bombing the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City. He was also a big fan of the Turner Diaries. "The Turner Diaries depicts a violent revolution in the United States which leads to the overthrow of the Unites States Federal Government ,nuclear war, and ultimately, to the extermination of all Jews and non-whites."

Sadly it seems that this position is the position of a small segment of Americans. Most of whom are to the right. Maybe not nuclear war but certainly many have been calling for violent revolution. We worry so much about terrorism by Islamic radicals when we should be worrying just as much about home grown terrorism.

The sad part is there is no way to change the minds of people who are utterly convinced, usually do to some mental illness paranoia, that anyone who differs in opinion to them is not the Antichrist coming to kill them. It just makes it worse when other extremist nuts fuel the fire of the "Us verses Them" philosophy that their opinion is the only true one that is based on lies, not what is happening in reality.

Nothing you can do save try to get people medical help before they go crazy. It's the same type of people who go on shooting rampages because they believe the government is controlled by the New World Order or by giant lizard people.

I certainly agree with you to a point, but still feel we need to worry more about Islamic Radicals, then home grown terrorism, although i do know it is here and does exist. Think that we need to worry about all Terrorism on a whole level.

Best wayI know to avoid waco is to not take I-35 south out of either Dallas or Fort Worth.

It becomes problematic if you want to end up in Ausitn but you can always take Southwest Airlines. They have dialy flights.

I agree with the police on this one. There would indeed be a useless waste of life if they went in. It's clear that John Joe Gray is capable of a lifestyle absent of everyday essentials like electricity, etc. This man is hardened from life on the farm, he has radical view of government, and he presumably has an arsenal. It's reasonable to believe that at least a couple police officers' would go home in a body bag. Gray likely wouldn't go alive, so what would police gain by going in?

The police have got this one right.
