It’s ironic that the party which originally disliked the essentially democratic principle of listening to the ‘common man’ should do a philosophical about face and embrace the concept. This was the party with their founding roots in Federalism and the idea that only elite citizens with ‘vested interest’ should guide power, not ‘the rabble.'
As for many of the folks claiming connection to the principles of the original “Tea Party,” I would suggest that they consider the fact that the original revolt was constituted by principled men who blatantly broke actual laws to draw the enemy out. These were real men with true commitment to an undeniably just cause. Not some screaming banshees who think yelling in disagreement is the same as a revolution, then disappear back to daily life. Most of these people wouldn't know a "revolution" if it picked them up and tossed them into the drink.
The Democrats are absolutely no better. They too have changed into something their forefathers would rightly disown in a heartbeat. Too many on 'both sides' seem to forget that American politics has a history longer than the last few decades. Political principles are not concepts that come with expiration dates.

“Conservative” versus “Liberal” my ass! The right thing to do and the intelligent way to do it (on any issue) has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with being either. In light of this fact, perhaps it would be a good time to rethink the stale notion of single party partisanship.

"So if the Republican Party had anyone wise among them, we would have heard some reasonable solutions by now. I wish that were the case." - T
This is way too intellectual for teapartiers. "Obamie the Commie" is about the most enlightened response we should expect.

The Bush tax cut has not even expired yet and Obama CUT taxes and has not raised any. So if your check is smaller, there is some other reason.
