Yikes!

The nation’s attention, however, is likely to remain focused on California, which faces a fresh $20 billion budget deficit and whose fiscal problems are “in a league of their own,” according to a November report by the Pew Center on the States, of which Stateline.org is part.

Schwarzenegger, who is term-limited and gave his final state of the state speech, embraced the recommendations of a tax reform commission that, last September, suggested a dramatic shifting of the state’s tax code, including reducing personal income tax rates for all income brackets and eliminating the statewide sales tax. Schwarzenegger stressed that the state’s current personal income tax structure is unfair.

In California, “144,000 taxpayers pay almost 50 percent of all personal income taxes,” Schwarzenegger said. “Think about it. Thirty-eight million Californians have to rely on 144,000 people for their schools, their fire protection, their health care, their public safety and many other services. That makes no sense.”

I think Texas is going to be right behind California. They reported recently that 6 out of 10 children is now born into poverty in Texas which of course means welfare handouts, free health care, free everything.

When those that take outnumber those that must give, big problems ahead.

The problem with statistics like "6 out of 10 children born into povery" is that "poverty" is somewhat subjective. Many in american has no idea of what true real life poverty is.

Go to Mexico where you can see 4+ year olds digging through garbage dumps looking for things that can be resold for real poverty..

Most "poverty striken" americans, do without, but they are far from poverty..

Poor people in America are rich when compared to poor people in the rest of the world. And they're poor here because they choose to be that way.

We are a sinking ship with the liberal idea that successful people are bound to take care of losers on welfare.

We are growing many little liberal generations of blood sucking government handout types.

This needs to stop and people need to be forced to actually EARN their own keep even if they have to clean toilets, roads, cut grass along the roads, wash windows, volunteer in nursing homes etc.

They have do to something to EARN their keep.

No person who is able to work should be sucking off of others and 100% of 18 year old or older should be paying their fair share of taxes.

It is NOT right for people to get away with paying no taxes. It is stealing.

Liberal policies of handouts for bums needs to stop. We need to stop rewarding losers and reward successful people.

Dead on right.

Poor chose to be poor because everyone knows you have ample opps in America to learn a skill, go to college for free or even work 2-3 jobs if you have to.

They chose to be poor because they know liberals will find a way to suck and steal from those who have earned a living will pay their way.

Me too.

I shut them down by stating that Louisiana had a liberal Governor and looney Mayor when Katrina was coming and they did NOTHING other then cause the deaths of many people.

CA has done well for many years. Some states get hit harder than others in a recession. If they had enforced immigration laws, I think they would be in a better position now.

I find it appalling how you all talk about poor Americans. But that's why the GOP is sinking. Don't care about anything else but themselves, and no one is better at spreading hate.
