Over the past year, Secret Service agents charged with protecting President Obama seem to have taken a keen interest in the Birther movement, the committed group of anti-Obama activists around the country who claim the president was born in Kenya, not Hawaii, and is thus ineligible to serve.
Quote:
In November, outspoken Birther Rev. James David Manning, a black minister in Harlem, called for Obama to be "jailed, hung and shot," among other things, in one of his online video sermons urging Tea Partiers to "go viral" with the birth certificate issue. A few days later, he reported that the CIA and some NYC detectives had come to talk with him...

Of particular concern to the Secret Service, it seems, are the individuals who are trying to interest federal prosecutors in bringing criminal charges against the president for fraud and treason, a movement spearheaded by a retired Navy lieutenant commander, Walter Fitzpatrick III. Last March, Fitzpatrick sent an "indictment" for treason to the US attorney for the Eastern District of Tennessee, asking the prosecutors to act on it. Two days later, he noted on his blog, two Secret Service agents showed up at his house along with a couple of local cops, to see what sort of threat he might pose to the president.

You cannot threaten the life of the President of the USA.

That will get you in big trouble.

In the past they would not have just had a stern talk. They would be in federal prison.

You have to do it through your vote and the people you elect.
You better choose wisely

How is advocating for truth and transparency a threat on his life?

Saying Obama should be "jailed, hung and shot" is not advocating for truth and transparency.

I had a redneck uncle who lived in Oklahoma. Ronald Reagan was supposed to go to Norman for some sort of appearance and my uncle was drunk in a bar and started mouthing off about how he was going to have Reagan killed.

The next day he was visited by the FBI. They take threats upon the president's life seriously, as they should.

This. Bad example for the OP. Anyone who even jokes about that generally gets investigated.

Way to stoke the fires of paranoia of the already gullible and mislead.

Anyone who threatens the life of any president is investigated, and those who were plotting it went to jail.

If the debate now is that threatening torture and murder is now a euphemism as truth and transparency, we have all gone bananas.

Uh, read the article before commenting maybe? The guy said Obama should be hung and shot. You can't threaten the life of the President without getting a visit from Secret Service. That's advocating VIOLENCE, not truth and transparency.

well, according to them he is not eligible to be president, and therefore they cannot be charged with a crime against the president if he was not a real president in the 1st place.

If threats are being made, the SS should investigate. But if the effort is more of a retaliatory effort than a true threat investigation, then Obama is no different than Scooter Libby and anyone else who outed Valerie Plame. I, for one, wouldn't put it past Obama. He seems to have a vindictive nature about him.
