Easy.....

The Univesities have been controlled by a leftist academia for decades now. The first thing the Philosophy professor does is prounce "GOD IS DEAD". Then it's down hill from there. Young eager minds full of mush (if they don't have a good foundation from home) are easily influenced.

Liberal professors like that Ward Churchill nut out number conservatives teachers almost 5 to 1.

So it's not a matter of intellect. It's just a numbers game.

I go to college and can tell you firsthand you're speaking out of your rear. My political opinions were generally the same as they are now before I ever stepped foot on campus.

I've taken 2 Philosophy classes: one prof was an agnostic who was open to most religious views. The other wouldn't tell us what he was but we had to write a paper convincing him what we believed. And no he didn't grade on what you believed, but rather how well you argued for it.

Like I previously said, about 1/3 of my professors teach in a liberal manner, 1/4 in a conservative manner, and the rest are either bipartisan or completely neutral.

I wouldn't call it brainwashing, but if you hang with enough people that are of a certain political leaning, and the university teachers themselves are mostly very liberal, combined with a young person whose mind is still very much able to be impressed... Well, go figure.

I don't have an answer for that off the top of my head, but are you denying this is the case? Especially those universities in the Northeast?

What's funny is you actually believe this to be true!
Hahahaha. Too funny.

So, intelligent people go to universities and are brainwashed and indoctrinated into liberal thinking. Once this brainwashing occurs, they can't escape it and they're stuck as liberals for the rest of their lives. Is that right?

In essence, you're saying that educated people can't think for themselves, and that's why they vote for Democrats, and that less-educated people can think for themselves, and that's why less-educated people vote for Republicans.

If you hang out with enough people you think they'll influence you how to do things. You must have really budged under peer pressure in HS. And while more professors are liberal than aren't, I can tell you first hand most of them are professional and don't let their biases effect their teaching.

I've been in college longer than I'd like to admit and from my experience in terms of teaching slants it's

1/3 liberal
1/4 conservative
All the rest either neutral or bipartisan

You need to back off the borderline personal attack. I came in here to offer my opinion but it appears that some of you don't want opinions, you merely wanted to start another war between ideologies. It's a well-known fact that most universities are liberal, and young minds ARE influenced by their teachers and peers.

From the article above...

Quote:
By their own description, 72 percent of those teaching at American universities and colleges are liberal and 15 percent are conservative, says the study being published this week. The imbalance is almost as striking in partisan terms, with 50 percent of the faculty members surveyed identifying themselves as Democrats and 11 percent as Republicans.

I haven't enrolled in every University of the North East and I refuse to speculate about things I know little about.

I do find it hard to believe that there are liberal socialists implanting their ideologies in MBA programs and that Religious Universities are chockablock full of communists corrupting the minds of the youth.

Anyone who thinks kids, even kids from 'bad' homes, respect and venerate their teachers so much as to totally swallow everything the professor say, even if it goes against what they already believe, is delusional.

I've been in classes where the Government Professor's first question was, "Who here doesn't think the US is the best country on Earth." (!!!) and went on to chew me out for raising my hand.

Didn't 'brainwash' me in the least.

People's minds (esp 20 year old kids who think they know everything already!) are ridiculously unmalleable.
