I just read as many as half a million people may have perished in this devastating event. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims. Anytime an event like this occurs, it is a sociological matter that requires everyones assistance.

This is too big for a nation that has so many living on $400 a year. We all need to give to the agncy whether its church relief oragnization or to a punblic organsization like the red cross. Otherwise why say that others even in this nation should help you in times of emergency. Thinking that the governamnt can do the job is foohish as we have seen in emergencies like hurricanes in thsi country. Its takes the massive resources and people of chruch and public agencies. As we saw with the hurricanes the military is the best organized and effective of any government organization.
Well, I just made a donation to Oxfam America, targeted to their emergency response in Haiti. I understand them to be a well-run organization with low administrative costs and a good track record. I urge everyone who can afford to do so, to make a donation to the aid organization of their choice. Especially those people who, understandably or not, don't want there to be a U.S. governmental response.
its sad im still speechless. im Haitian, and its like you lost everyone. Haitians are a family oriented ppl. they care about family and others. and this is really really hard for everyone. and this goes down the generation line. and everyone in the states has family and friends still in Haiti. so everyone pray, help out, donate, or whatever, do something because we all really need it. this is hard on the Haitian ppl. hell this is so hard that it effects you really emotionally. even you never been to the island, you hear stories of hw your parents used to have fun when they where young. the island may be gone but lets not think negative, because this hurts deep.

The devastation is mind boggling.
I just donated $100 to Doctors Without Borders. Wish it could have been more. It's unbelievable what these people have been suffering through even before the earthquake.
Wow, you really should research these things before you say them, because HUNDREDS of countries came to our aid after 9/11 and Katrina. Hundreds of millions of dollars of aid and supplies.
Absolutely. What an ignorant and stupid comment. And most of it unclaimed when it could have really helped with helping the victims of Katrina for example and for reconstruction.

I hope it's no where near that many people who have lost their lives. Lots of pain and suffering... They're going to have to build an incinerator for all those bodies to hopefully keep the disease at a minimum. Really, really sad.
Amazing! No one needs to hear that crap from him...
