Fox Nation equates temporary protections for Haitians in the U.S. with "Amnesty" for "Illegal Aliens" | Media Matters for America

Quote:
A January 15 Fox Nation headline asserted, "Obama Moves to Grant Amnesty to Haitian Illegal Aliens." However, the article to which Fox Nation linked reported on the temporary suspension of deportations of undocumented Haitian immigrants and on widespread calls for the administration to grant temporary protected status to such individuals, making no mention of "amnesty to Haitian illegal aliens."
unbelievable. and for kickers - read the absolutely awful comments on the actual story:

Fox isn't news. It's propaganda.

Headline sensationalism has been around forever, and every news organization has participated in it. It's what draws people in to read the story. Fox news provided a link and it's up to the reader to read the actual story.

It's not the fault of Fox that some folks take headlines as actual news and don't bother reading the story. Why should I read an entire article when the headline affirmed all that I already know?

The only reason they do is because people will see such psychotic headlines and see for themselves what insane things the journalist has thought up next. They quit a long time ago in providing facts with integrity.

Maybe if Fox could manage to just relate the news instead of having a Daily Lie to be exposed, they wouldn't be mentioned so often. We don't seem to have that problem with any other network; it's because Fox tells some people what they want to hear instead of the truth. Sad, huh? But there's no honor among thieves, and Fox steals time and ethics from their
viewers.

... of the concept of journalism.

(Don't blame me if some people read the headline of this comment and take away the wrong impression.)

People who don't like FOX are certainly free to not watch it. To much TV will rot your common sense no matter what your watching, unless it's a food or travel show.
I feel for the folks suffering especially in Haiti right now. Everyone should offer some help if they can right now.

Ha! Are you kidding? You're actually making MY point!
Fox links to an article titled "Obama halts deportations of undocumented Haitian immigrants, urged to grant 'protected status'" but titles the story (and the direct link to it) "Obama Moves to Grant Amnesty to Haitian Illegal Aliens"

keep beleiving whatever it is you want to believe...

Ummmm. This is a form of Amnesty:
allowing undocumented immigrants to work......

There is nothing false about the headline.
