How can you other conservatives on this forum stand up for this ruling? It's a big, steaming, pile of SHEET! Lordy people! Are you just happy that the so-called conservatives "won" on this ruling and don't care how much it will limit YOUR freedom of speech? Oh, you'll still be able to speak as you please, it's just that you'll be drowned out by corporate interests and your voice won't mean squat!

Kennedy wrote the opinion.
Now, what do you have to say about that?

Oooooh, more political ads. Just what we all look forward to. Let's face it. No one who posts to this forum is going to be swayed by political ads but we'll still have to endure them...all of them...so many of them. In an election year, I'll probably be able to read a whole chapter of a book during the commercial breaks. So, I'm thinking the TV networks are celebrating for the new revenue the ads will bring and the advertising agencies will also be "stimulated." Perhaps some newspapers, like the NY Times, will be able to curtail layoffs or won't go under, either.

Moving out of the country will not change the fact that FOREIGN owned and operated corporations can now also decide who runs the show.

In that case that makes Obama the village idiot.
Stop stealing my names!
Obama is the village idiot and I am the one who gave him his EARNED name.
Roberts is awesome by the way.
He has done a fantastic job.

A great job? Please, he was one who voted yes to this crap. The conservative justices as well as their supports deserve to be named Village Idiots.

The main thing this lets corporations do is spend money on advertising. The main reason that's effective is that the citizens allow it to be through their own unwillingness to research and get to know candidates.

I don't like the effect of this Supreme Court Decision, but I do think it's part of the Supreme Court's job to force the legislature to craft good law. Well-thought out, well-reasoned law, that is well-written, concise and straightforward, that abides by the principles of our Constitution, will be upheld by the Supreme Court. When Congress fails to craft good law, it's in all our interests that it should be overturned.
That said, I don't think the Supreme Court overturned the law, but instead pointed out the weaknesses in the law, and where it needed to be fixed. I don't agree with all their reasoning, and I think the dissenting opinions are quite strong, but I also think that holding up our laws to very high standards is part of the Supreme Court's job.

Conservative? lol...not really.
He was unanimously confirmed if I recall correctly.
One of the better legal minds to be put on the court in quite some time if I recall hearing from non-partisan sources.
If Clinton or someone with -D at the end of their name had appointed him you would support him 100%. People like you are an embarassment in your blind support for one party and opposition to another...go hang out with people like Rush and Glen Beck...they are exactly your type but you don't see it.

Well what's better, foreign governments deciding who runs the show here (as it is now) or foreign businesses?
