Regardless of how much some people dream about it, the Christian Taliban is not going to go away. They are not going to relinquish their hold on the GOP voluntarily. They'll fight "tooth and nail" to prevail.

So, pass the popcorn for now.

The lefties do the same with abortion, gays, guns, illegal immigration, etc.

So, no, "such a candidate" will not emerge from the primaries.
Amen to this! A rightwinger is never wrong about anything, so long as there is the leftwing media to blame. That is what I hate about Rush and his gang. Psoriasis, gingivitus, obesity, and bounced checks are all caused by LIBERALS!!!!:ma d:

Let's assume that Gingrich or Santorum or Perry or Bachmann or Palin were to get the GOP nomination. Most Americans who can complete a coherent sentence think they are all sleazeballs or wackadoodles, and would never vote for them in a millenium of Sundays. But to a true believer, they are luminaries, and it is all a grand conspiracy against them.

Not anytime soon.

The amount of pandering to minorities it would take for the GOP to break through the Democrats' shrieks of racism to actually attract minorities would be wholly unacceptable to virtually the entire base of the Republican party. You'd have to completely erase the personal responsibility platform and start embracing entitlements and equal outcomes. To do that you wouldn't just need the old guard to die off, you'd need an almost complete replacement of the Party. Personal responsiblity is the absolute bedrock of the GOP. Regardless of their positions on any other issues, I have never heard of a conservative who didn't embrace personal freedom and personal responsibility as foundational beliefs.

I strongly doubt it. As I see it now...those that are passionate for Christ are, generally-speaking the ones most likely to be passionate about the erosion of our nation's Founding Principles.

In a normal election sure because moderates still come out. But this election moderates are mainly staying home which is the reason rick is doing so well.

I think it's looking more and more certain that Romney will be the GOP candidate. If Romney's campaign is run right (pointing out the difference between Obama's campaign promises and his Presidential reality), and that is combined with things like $5 - $6 gas prices, Romney stands a very good chance of winning the election.

Regarding the "religious nuts" (whoever they are), if they're Christian religious nuts, they'll vote for Romney as the lesser of two evils. If they are atheistic or Muslim religious nuts, they'll vote for Obama.

Your post is filled with just enough hateful rhetoric to render you non-credible.

I don't see any such thing as "socially moderate". You either believe in personal freedoms, or you don't.

Its not "the same thing". That is like saying... defending the USA is the same as attacking another country.
