Most conservatives work, it is the liberals in the red states that are in line for handouts unless you are so cofused that there are actually states that do not have a single liberal in them

It is true, in fact, if the state government of California collected the taxes directly, that go to the federal government. They would not have a budget deficit at all.

In 2005 Californians got back roughly 47.5 billion less from the federal government than what they pain in. Yes, $47.5 billion

The Tax Foundation - Federal Taxes Paid vs. Federal Spending Received by State, 1981-2005

I think its about time for California to secede from the Union. I've got your back.

Leftist thinking has killed millions of men women and children and untold amounts of suffering. I think the world would have been a much better place without it.
With liberals there is no progress. Without conservatives there is no restraint.

You are both needed, even if you don't like each other.

77% believe the Bible should be taught in public schoolsI see no reason why not. It could be taught as an elective, as could the Torah, Koran, and any other religous texts that have historical significance.

-- 73% believe homosexuals should not be allowed to teach in public schoolsI could care less if they teach in public schools, its about as much of an issue to me as a person with green eyes teaching in school, lol.

-- 63% believe President Obama is a socialistHe is a socialist. There is no "belief" about it, its a simple fact. Socialism isn't automatically evil, but the left needs to be more open about the fact they embrace socialism.

-- 55% believe homosexuals should not be allowed to serve in the militaryIf they want to serve, I don't care, they should.

-- 53% believe Sarah Palin is more qualified to be president than Obama isShe is a total airhead. That being said she is just as qualified as the community agitator to run this country. Both of them are horrible choices IMO.
-- 39% believe Obama should be impeachedOn what grounds? I'm not aware of any impeachable offenses

-- 36% believe Obama wasn't born in the United StatesI wasn't there, so I don't know where he was born. He has a birth certificate that says Hawaii, and that's all he needs IMO.

-- 34% believe the birth control pill is abortionNo its not, otherwise unfertilized eggs are abortion as well

-- 31% believe contraception should be outlawedWhy?

-- 31% believe Obama hates white peopleHe hates white Republicans along with most Democrats.

-- 24% believe Obama wants the terrorists to winI'm pulling for the Colts.

-- 23% believe their state should secede from the unionThings would have to get WAY worse for me to even begin to consider that being a good idea. I don't see it getting that bad anytime in the next few decades.

-- 21% believe ACORN stole the '08 election for ObamaWhy would he need ACORN when he already had ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, PBS, NPR, and virtually all major newspapers and magazines completely in the tank over him?
[/quote]

BTW, I don't think the poll is an accurate reflection at all. I believe it was purposely collected in a way to try and malign the mainstream conservatives with the fringe. Sad thing is most libs will eagerly believe it without question no matter how false it is.

-- 77% believe the Bible should be taught in public schools
It depends on what you define as "taught". Should we teach children directly from the bible? Absolutely not. But should there be some education on the history of religion? I think everyone should understand the basics of all the major religions. I remember learning a little about Islam when I was in school. About the pillars of Islam(like Jihad).

But I personally hate public schools and I think the entire public school system should be scrapped and replaced with vouchers. If there were vouchers, then highly religious families could just as easily enroll their children in christian schools.

-- 73% believe homosexuals should not be allowed to teach in public schools
This is a tough situation, I don't think there should be any law that prohibits a homosexual from teaching in school. But I also don't think there should be any law for discrimination against homosexual teachers(or anything else for that matter). If the homosexual teacher was a good teacher, and was recognized as a good teacher, and if the other teachers and parents didn't mind a homosexual teacher, then he would be hired regardless.

-- 63% believe President Obama is a socialist
I am surprised this number isn't higher. Obama is a socialist. And I don't mean that in a derogatory manner either. I don't see anything truly wrong with the socialist ideals. They are legitimized by Keynesian economic policies.

The problem with Socialism isn't whether or not it is a wonderful idea to have a more egalitarian system. It is that, any amount of socialism always has a negative effect on economic growth. No economist who supports socialism believes that any amount of socialism will create a better economic system. They just believe the drop in GDP growth is worth it, to provide the social safety-net for the people.

Pure Capitalists believe that "a rising tide floats all boats", and even though socialist policies seem to provide much-needed benefits in the short-term. Over the long-term, the people at the bottom would be much better off because of the overall much larger economic growth of pure capitalism(their boat would rise, in the same way the people in poverty here are much better off than the people from many other countries).

-- 55% believe homosexuals should not be allowed to serve in the military
I don't believe homosexuals or women should serve in the military. It really causes more problems than any amount of benefits. And some people will say that, "we don't have enough recruits if we limit our options". I say, we don't need such a large army anyway. Tell me, who is going to invade the United States?

-- 53% believe Sarah Palin is more qualified to be president than Obama is
Neither of them were qualified to be the president of the United States. And Sarah Palin was a huge embarrassment because she basically knew absolutely nothing about national politics at the time she was chosen for VP. I think Sarah Palin is a good person and she is smart and sincere. But she was not qualified to become the president(nor the VP). Obama had basically no experience in politics, and he has never been responsible for anything. Many of the promises he made on the campaign trail are impossible because of how our government works. I don't know if he said them just for votes, or if he naively believed that it was possible.

-- 39% believe Obama should be impeached
I personally think there should have been a long line of impeached presidents. Any president that signs a law that is unconstitutional, should be impeached. Of course, something being unconstitutional is debatable. I believe any government action of military hostility outside of our own borders, that isn't a declared war(or a declared war on false or unsubstantiated pretenses), is not constitutional. And I believe any federal law or program that isn't directly covered under article 1 section 8 of the US constitution, is also unconstitutional. And any president that knowingly signs a bill into law that is unconstitutional should be immediately removed, as well as every other senator or representative that voted for the bill.

-- 36% believe Obama wasn't born in the United States
Well, Obama and the state of Hawaii are to blame for all of this. They could have produced the long form birth certificate two years ago, yet they try to pretend like it shouldn't be necessary, and they don't have enough time to bother?

I know it seems silly to make a president provide this kind of information. But how many presidents have a father who wasn't an American Citizen? How many presidents spent much of their lives living outside of this country? How many presidents went to Islamic schools while living in Indonesia? How many presidents are supposedly devout Christians, but immediately stop going to church as soon as they become president?

-- 34% believe the birth control pill is abortion
-- 31% believe contraception should be outlawed
This is silly, and I am sure most of these people know it is silly. I think a large number of people who are opposed to the birth control pill or other contraception, are just concerned about falling birth rates. Or they believe that the birth control pill causes promiscuity(which they are probably right).

-- 31% believe Obama hates white people
I don't think Obama hates white people. But I know that in his mind, he elevates the issues of black people above white people. He sees himself as a black man. He only uses his white heritage when it benefits him. He went to a black(white hating) church, and married a very black woman. But, I can't really blame him for seeing himself as a black man, since almost all Americans see him as a black man.

-- 24% believe Obama wants the terrorists to win
This is another silly one, of course Obama doesn't want the terrorists to win. Obama just doesn't see the whole of Islam as a threat. He believes that Islam is of equal nature to Christianity, and that we could all co-exist peacefully. Many Republicans and myself, don't believe that Islam can ever truly co-exist peacefully with Juddhaism or Christianity(although it can on small scales when muslims are the extreme minority).

-- 23% believe their state should secede from the union
I think almost every state should secede from the union, and I am a little shocked this number isn't higher. The only other option would be to have our current congress willingly transfer power out of their own hands, and into the states. Which means to nullify probably thousands of federal laws and programs. I just don't see that being possible.

Honestly, I would be totally fine with an America that is more like the European Union. Where we all share the same currency, and there are pretty loose immigration and visa allowances. Yet, each country has its own laws and policies, which can better represent their own people.

-- 21% believe ACORN stole the '08 election for Obama
ACORN is a group that does not deserve any amount of federal funding. It has been ideologically hijacked and corrupted by certain left-wing individuals. And in many areas of the country, is ran by what amounts to thugs.

But I personally despise any group that tries to encourage people to vote. These groups are basically just partisan groups, that want "their guy" elected. The vast majority of Americans are ignorant to the issues, they don't understand economics, and they are too easily bought out by promises of benefits. Our politicians are also bought out by promises of benefits(either by earmarks, or by lobbyists), the states are bought out by promises of benefits. All because of a monster of a federal government that is corrupt and wasteful.

We should be requiring a political knowledge test for the right to vote. If you don't know anything about government, then you shouldn't be able to vote, period.
