I'm the same way but fortunately no one has made fun of me yet. I also try to use proper grammar when typing an email because you never know who will wind up reading it down the road. Right now, I'm taking a class and have to force myself to write in shorthand because I am a slow note taker! LOL! (sorry OP but could not resist )

Okay, I know one of you is tempted to reply to me with nothing but a litany of thumbs-up now. I asked for it.
Why would any of us do something like that???

I think I could use a steno class ... I'm horribly slow at taking notes and it's killing me in class.

As far as the internet lingo like "lol" etc. I don't like it, but the more i participate in online discussions, the more I find myself using it. I too, am one of those people who types out text messages with proper grammar and spelling, my friends wonder why I always call rather than text back, it's cause my thumbs hate all that pushing.
Ditto ... I hate text messaging for the exact same reason.

They annoy the hell out me! It's not like there isn't room here to type real words. I'm serious, look how much space we have here!
