FBI and FCC Seek Control of Software Industry | Business and Management Industry (http://nbwy.net/software-industry/title-35/index.html - broken link)

The Federal Communications Commission has issued a policy paper that sets free speech back a few thousand years. Yep, the FCC is taking the position that computer software companies must first get approval from the FBI before they will be allowed to put software products on the market. Think about that for a minute and cringe.

It would be impossible to enforce this on the freeware community.

Everyone will go open source or freeware and charge for support. Ridiculous none-the-less.

Can't find any references in the article or elsewhere? I'll say it's BS.

In any event suppose it were true, it would cripple the software industry in this country and would be impossible to enforce. Simple example of what will happen is what happened with the DVD copying software. The companies simply set up shop overseas out of the reach of the US government.

I feel as you do also. But if this could be remotely true, this would not be good, do you think it would! Your right, many would set up shop overseas, out of the reach of our Government.
