You read that headline correctly. Unfortunately, the Obama Administration is financing oil exploration off Brazil.
The U.S. is going to lend billions of dollars to Brazil's state-owned oil company, Petrobras, to finance exploration of the huge offshore discovery in Brazil's Tupi oil field in the Santos Basin near Rio de Janeiro. Brazil's planning minister confirmed that White House National Security Adviser James Jones met this month with Brazilian officials to talk about the loan.
The U.S. Export-Import Bank tells us it has issued a "preliminary commitment" letter to Petrobras in the amount of $2 billion and has discussed with Brazil the possibility of increasing that amount.
The article asks... If President Obama has embraced offshore drilling in Brazil, why not in the old U.S.A.? The land of the sorta free and the home of the heavily indebted has enormous offshore oil deposits, and last year ahead of the November elections, with gasoline at $4 a gallon, Congress let a ban on offshore drilling expire.
Billionaire investor George Soros bought an $811 million stake in Petroleo Brasileiro SA in the second quarter, making the Brazilian state-controlled oil company his investment fund's largest holding.
A few things to note.
Obviously Soros backed Obama in the 2008 election - this is obviously pay back.
What about all of the anti-oil rhetoric in this country - and he finances oil in another country? This tells me that it's all about money - not the environment - because if he was for the environment, he would not finance this. I guess he isn't financing this, we are. That's even worse.
So if the environment is not the goal - then all this green energy stuff must be the attempt to transfer money to his friends from the hands of the oil people who are not his political friends.
PETRÓLEO BRASILEIRO S/A - PETROBRAS, ..., a Brazilian international energy company, informs that signed this afternoon two Memorandums of Understanding with Chinese institutions and an export oil contract with UNIPEC Asia Co. Ltda, subsidiary of China Petrochemical Corporation – SINOPEC, to export 60 to 100 thousand barrels of oil per day.
I couldn't find where Petrobras exports to the US.
So in summary - We give tax payer money to an oil company that not only is backed by a person who is a large political supporter - but also exports their oil to a main competitor.
He has never been for the American people--no matter who argues it here. The facts you presented plus all the other things that have been presented here in this forum. Soros is a very evil man and one of the puppet masters.
So we are financing Brazil drilling oil to sell to China ?
yup. and further plumpening the disgusting soros' pockets in the process.
