Like you said it is an oversimplification. She could have been harassed or discriminated against.

Looks like the professor was denied deserved tenure, or, was denied ass-kissed-for tenure.

How do we know she wasn't being sexually harassed????
You assume the people that were shot were saints and angels. And that she was some crazed serial killer freak. We don't know the whole story.

Would such an incident happen if the law allowed qualified students to carry handguns in the campus for self-defence ?
Probably. People who go on shooting sprees tend to be somewhat nuts to begin with. Combined with the element of surprise, you're still going to have mass-fatality shootings.

And speaking of Alabama, 11 people died less than a year ago in a mass shooting Geneva County, all of them out in public, where Alabama's normal concealed carry laws apply. The presence of armed people (of whom there are many in Geneva County) did not prevent the massacre, and it ended up being stopped by cops.

Maybe she has something to say.

Maybe I want to hear it.

As reflected elsewhere on CD it more likely has to do with ownership of intellectual property. Dr. Bishop and her husband invented a portable cell incubator. Her background is in neuroscience and she may have been educated at Harvard. Her husband was also taken into custody.

It appears out of an act of complete selfishness she took the lives of three of her collegues while injuring two more and a UAH staff member. In this defining act she put an end to any other good works she had an opportunity to do while on this earth.

This is not about gun control. This is about some wack-job who chose mass murder to "solve" her dispute with the Univeristy.

I'll add that in Western cultures it is a rarity for such a violent public action to be attributed to a women.

I guess if she was sexually harassed it gives her the green light to go ahead and off 3 people.

That is no excuse to let loose during a faculty meeting and shooting your collegues. I don't care what were her motivations.
