I can't really say who is a favourite inasmuch as I don't watch television--and more than half the names on the list are totally unfamiliar to me.
I do watch clips that come in my mailbox from places like C&L, Truthdig and others and that is how I see Stewart, and others--but in order to have a favourite I think I'd need to know more about the others.
But thanks for the poll.

I faced the same dilema. But Maher won out. I don't know Olberman's stance on religion. I don't ever remember disagree with Maher. Real Time is my favorite show and I loved Politically Incorrect. I'ts scary how much we think alike.
I'd vote for Maher or George Carlin for Prez in a sec.

I tend to agree with Bill Maher most of the time, too. A lot of times I feel that he goes ahead and says some of the things many of us would collectively like to say, but we don't necessarily have the cajones or the wherewithal to put them out there on the table. Same with Jon Stewart. They're both awesome.
Eek...George Carlin as President? He can be hilarious and he's typically right on (in my opinion) in his views on the issues.....but I think he often crosses the line....like waaaay over the line....like, to the point of being well beyond obscene. Just my opinion...

I voter "Other."
My favorite is Thom Hartmann, a radio guy. I don't always agree with him. In fact, I'd say I disagree with him pretty strongly about 20% of the time, but I am always better informed for listening to his point of view. Even when he's wrong, he's interesting.
I also really like Bill Moyers, but he's more of an actual journalist than a "talking head." You can't get away with a soundbyte with him.

Glen Beck for sure, makes me laugh. He sometimes makes me cry, especially when he talks about his family or tells a story about one of our soldiers. It is hard to explain him, you need to listen to him. I listen to him more than I watch his show on CNN.

I picked Chris Matthews because he's extremely knowledgeable and he just lays out the facts without promoting a particular agenda or for that matter without promoting himself. What I can't stand about alot of the people on the list (most notably Bill O'Reilly) is that they're more interested in promoting themselves than presenting intelligent commentary and debate on the issues. I also think highly of Keith Olbermann, he's a refreshing change from many of the others and is in the same league as Chris Matthews.

I agree with you 100%, although Olbermann is my favorite, with Matthews in second. So, I guess that would mean I agree with you 99%
Although Keith Olbermann is my favorite for various reasons, I think Chris Matthews ALWAYS remains fair to either party, without promoting his own agenda (or, you're right, himself). He rarely (if ever?) interrupts or cuts-off his guests (as Bill O'Reilly and others tend to do all the time), and he tries to listen to and give equal talk-time to each side of most issues. I enjoy watching him, and I thought it was odd that he wasn't getting any votes in my poll. Glad he finally got one.
