As if you need proof of the stupidity of the general public, here's a recent poll that asked people if they favor or oppose allowing both "homosexuals" and "gay men and lesbians" to serve in the military. The results are somewhat confusing.

Support for Gays in the Military Depends on the Question - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

Is there some type of homosexual other than gays and lesbians that I don't know about?

I'm dumbfounded. Speechless.

I wonder how anyone thought to ask the same question in those two ways.

Support for homosexuals serving in the army dropped from last year... as noted on the poll.

Misanthropy stems from things like this.

It's a good example of how polls can be manipulated by the words used in the question.

Regardless of what the public thinks, military leaders have said they're ready to make the change in the policy, so I think it's a done deal. It's just a matter of time now.

I realize that. HBut Fox "News" usually calls them "Homosexuals" to alter their polls. I think that crap came from them.

Are you of the opinion that said military leaders would come forth in agreement if their boss, the President of the United States, hadn't campaigned on the policy and is now pushing it?

I think leaning on "military leaders" for sign-off is a thin slice of reasoning.
