.....according to some, including this mayor, Americans should blow away their money that they were saving to put there kids through college?
For the bazillionth time, it's not the advice given, it's that he specifically targeted Las Vegas - AGAIN - instead of wording it more generically and not causing further damage to the economy of the state hardest hit by the current economic situation.

Is it really that hard to understand? Really??
Vegas was the least important bit in the statement.
TV portrays Vegas on a weekly basis, far worst then the statement, and I don't see a rush to whine and scream over being portrayed badly on TV by the mayor.
If you don't want to be viewed as a place where people gamble their life savings away, get rid of the gambling (and other vices) and become Utah.
I did not vote for President Obama, however, I think it is disrespectful to say NO to the President, no matter what one's political belief is. If you have faith in our country, and what it stands for, and would defend her, then I think it unfitting to disrespect the Office of the President of the United States, the leader of the Free World by rejecting an invitation.
Sure, the mayor scored some points politically, but in my view, his character took the hit.
What exactly is the point of an invitation if you're obliged to accept? Why not just have the FBI come and forcibly bring him to the White House?
We're already on the fence about a move to Wyoming in the next 1-2 years. If NV does that, they're guaranteed to lose at least six residents because of it, and I'm sure we're not the only one's that'd go. Texas and Florida also have no income tax, as well as Wyoming and a few others, and retirees don't need to worry about the job market where they choose to live...
Your Bio indicates you live in Sin City (Nevada). Then you know the REAL financial crisis Nevada is in. And while the instinct is to tax Gaming more, Gaming controls Nevada (and not retirees) - so there will not be any more taxes on gaming or room nights (already taxed at some of the highest rates in the world).
The fact of the matter is, the State income tax may very well HAVE TO COME BACK if things like Law Enforcement, Education, Health care etc are to even simply SURVIVE. Survive.
So, if the return of the income tax is enough to make you move, then may I suggest that you get a head start on packing up?
The Mayor should have respect for the office even if he is rightly peeved at Obama. He should meet with the President and, in a respectful way, ask him "why are you in a place you told other people not to come to?".
He isn't meeting with teh office he is meeting with teh man;Obama.Oabma turns down people all the time and he works for them.He need to show some respect for those that earn a living in Vegas and not just use them for poltical rethoric like he has.As Oabma gets in more and more problems because of his policies he brings out what use to be called Rebel Rousing.
Goodman was a lawyer for the mafia...LMaoooooooooooooooooooooooo how many dead bodies are sitting out in the desert because of him...
Do you remember the movie "Casino"?
Oscar Goodman played himself in the movie. There is no one better than Oscar to play Oscar.
Oh, to be sure - Oscar knows "where the bodies are buried" (said in a NON joking manner)
