Although, most in the crowd did not agree with Spalding they did agree with him that the KKK had a constitutional right to assemble.
Many people from Nahunta just wished the KKK wouldn't have picked their hometown. "Everybody should have a chance to say what's on their mind whether it is right or not," said Derek Johnson.
Sorry, but that just sounds like the kind of remote, backwoods town that would be expected to have a substantial KKK presence. No offense to any non-Klan sympathizers who might happen to hail from Nahunta.
To be fair, these type of Klan rallies are everywhere not just the South. These types of demonstrations have been in cities like San Francisco. And believe, there are Klan everywhere. There are varying degrees of racism. This extremist type of racism is everwhere. The South, however, seems to have more less extreme racism like opposition to interracial relationships but tolerance toward non-intimate and friendly relationships with Blacks and other minorities.
