You know, all of the firemen I know are conservatives. They aren't federal employees. They aren't even state employees and some whole departments are volunteers.
Our "volunteer" fire dept. is tax-supported. The taxes pay for equipment, the fire station, and even some employees.

And yeah...all the firefighters, paramedics, and cops I know (and I know A LOT) are conservative.
Well, it's a free country. That's the beauty of our system. You can feed at the public trough and vote Republican.
What kind of mental gymnastics is this? I have little doubt that the local fire depts in this state get money from the state, and I'd bet they've gotten some federal money, too. Please explain what difference it makes who the taxing body is.
Are you so sure you're getting $2 worth of servive for your $2 on the local level?
Good luck with things like building an Interstate Highway system on the local level
however a lot of jobs are contracted out when it comes to highways and such. meaning that someone is making a profit. firefighters are not thus, no one is making a profit.
i dont know if im getting 2 dollars worth of service for my 2 dollars through my local government. but i do know that if firefighting was privatized i would not, because someone will absolutely be making profit. most likely millions of dollars in profit, id id bet they will cut firefighter wages and cut corners to save every dollar they can to inflate said profit.
