I'm sure people in the US have their own horror stories....Here is one....

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/11/op...11krugman.html
Your example is one local health care clinic, and their policy, but once government takes over then whatever policy is in place, will be nation wide.

The patient in Canada was denied care on a national level. Once Canada denies you health care, you can not simply go to another clinic, because the policy is nation wide, the denial of care is nation wide, the denial of the medicine is nation wide - there is no where else to go.

Wrong. Each individual province is responsible for the health care of it's residents, and that's why the quality and level of care varies.
Just so you know that I'm talking from experience......
I'm in my 70th year and find that as I age my heath problems increase. I think the old body is falling apart....In the past four years I have been hospitalized for two weeks with pancreatitis, had my gall bladder removed, had a heart attack and within an hour of the attack had a stent inserted. Last spring I developed a four inch cyst on my pancreas..I have various other problems as well....I've made four ambulance trips in that time. In short the ambulance drivers are beginning to recognize my voice on the phone. Every procedure and test I have had has been done quickly and efficiently, and the care I've received from the various specialists has been excellent......Cost to me $50 per ambulance ride....If I had no heath insurance I'd be bankrupt.

sanspeur...given that each province handles medical care for their residents, can you go to another province if you want/need care other than what is provided where you live?

Thank you for taking time to share from your personal experience with Canada's health care.

Please keep posting!

My point was not to discuss the Canadian system , but to try and illustrate 0bamaCare or UHC in America, and you have just shown that it would be even worse then the Canadian system. The UHC 0bama and Pelosi want will be a centrally planned system that overrides the states, and any denial of medical care would include the entire nation.

Who is your health care insurance provider, and how does if vary from province to province?

Because of the US-Canada- brother-sister relationship , I think it is most appropriate to compare the two Countries , regarding health care ...and the Banking System. Canada may not have the worlds best health care ( compared to France ) , but so much is the same between our countries...way of life, language , and heritage, that we in the US can learn a lot. What to do , and mayybe what not to do. Because of the greater number of insured in the US , it seems the Canadian system would work quite well, as there are so many more people to contribute....Its hard not to consider seriously a Country that has the best banking system in the World. They are doing several things right...that we are not !

The Banks don't like that idea either, must be a good one.

I don't think nationalizing student aid is a good idea. Now there is nowhere to go but the government for college money. They already had Pell and now they have it all.

But..student aid is now part of healthcare so does that mean premiums will be upped to help fund that ?
