They just won the gold! Let them have their fun. Most of these players are not millionaire sports figures. They work hard for 4 years for a chance to win a medal. A cigar and a couple beers are well deserved.
Are these not the same group (the IOC) that get perks like prostitutes and get payoffs of other sorts in exchange for olympic bids (see Salt Lake City games ).
And yet US snowboarder was sent home because he posed for a photo in which a woman bent over to put the medal in her mouth while at a party outside the Olympic venue. These women went back to the locker room and came back out on the ice in uniform with beer and cigars or blunts. They did this in the Olympic hockey stadium. The Olympics are within their right to issue a judgement on the team for their behavior at their venue. Judging by some of the photos, I have to wonder if it was tobacco they were smoking on the ice. I was especially impressed with the photo of the two women laying on the ice side by side with one girl holding the cigar to the mouth of the other girl. Real classy.
