How is Medicare NOT a form of "socialized medicine"?
people pay into it for years before using it for a few years..It is a form of insurance, very different from socialized medicine. Add to that seniors still pay for surgeries, office visits, drugs, etc. It isn't a free ride as some seem to think.

I don't want to look at the past. Let's deal with today. There are steps that could be taken to bring down the cost of heath care without a massive power grap all done in a hurry and behind closed doors. This is so important it should be worked on carefully over a period of time, with careful consideration. What hussein obama wants to do is not thought out and support bought through paybacks and bribes.

What the Republicans fought for in 1993 for healthcare reform, they are now against because it is in a Democratic bill. Perhaps an effective strategy for the Democrats in congress would be to endorse a bill with the opposite of what they really want and then the GOP will actually, unknowingly, fight for what the Democrats really want.
