Who would prefer to have delivering your mail? UPS and Fed Ex are not cheap, either, and have worse service (IMO).
I disagree with you, my daughter's ebay business, has thrived because the the great service that UPS AND FED EX have provided her customers with, on time,. not more expensive then USPS and she gets a deal. Now the times that packages have gotten lost, was because of USPS SERVICES, never UPS OR FED EX, she has all positive feedback, but USPS is the ones that have lost packages, never UPS OR FED EX. She sells on the side, but does very very well while going to school, and working. USPS has even lost packages for her customers, and could never find the package, yes there is insurance, but that is not the point, they have lost packages for her many times, it is good that her customers understand this, the majority of her customers prefer UPS.

I do believe it's important to have a national mail service, but I'd say that 80-90% of the mail I get is junk/advertisements. I wonder how much money could be saved if it were possible to eliminate junk mail.
In that case, they'd actually lose a lot of money. Junk mail doesn't get delivered for free. I'd like them to make it a lot more expensive to send junk mail. We'd all still get approximately the same amount of junk mail, and the postal service would get a huge boost in revenue.
If it helps any then let them cut Sat service. People will adjust to Mon-Fri service.
That's how it used to be in the past. I'm waiting to see other stuff cut over the weekends to where Sunday has nothing opened again except gas stations and the occasional drug store.

Good idea. Let the junk mail companies get stiffed with higher rates!

I'm actually surprised that the day it will be closed is a Saturday. You know, I can see it being closed two days a week but Saturday is the only day some working people can get to the post office.
