Ruin Your Health With the Obama Stimulus Plan - Bloomberg.com

There were entire threads here on C-D on the ramifications of the new government control of health care in last year's stimulus bill.

A link to an opinion piece (now more than a year old), and two C-D threads (also more than a year old) discussing that same opinion piece, have nothing to do with what you first posted and I responded to.

In reply to: "we dont want the government or a private industry controling our personal relationship with our doctor."

I said: "At no time has the federal government or BC/BS controlled or interfered with my relationship with any doctor."

But, what the hey - I'll play. The opinion piece states that "Page numbers refer to H.R. 1 EH, pdf version." Okay, fine.

And then it says "The bill’s health rules will affect “every individual in the United States” (445, 454, 479)."

That sounds like something I need to check out. So, I go to page 445 of the pdf version of H.R. 1 .... whoops! The bill ends with page 407.

Cop out. Are you really going to blame others for muddying a message? After one year and 35 speeches, Obama and the Dems have had plenty of opportunity to get the points across. The closed door meetings, last minute deals contribute to the general distrust of this bill. I would argue that the public is more involved and more aware of specifics of healthcare than most major policies recently. It's dishonest to blame anyone but Obama if you feel the message isn't clear.

You also said:

OK - now we're getting somewhere. In order to (1) not toss out the work done on this over the last year, and (2) save all the individual parts that the American public, in poll after poll, have indicated that they favor (little things like no discrimination based on pre-existing conditions), the Democrats (I'd say "Congress", but that would imply Republicans as well) have to agree on THIS bill - the bill the Senate already passed - and then make changes during the reconciliation process.

And none of us know what will ultimately transpire during reconciliation. Will policy decisions be thrown out, as reconciliation is to relate only to budgetary matters? Will the Louisiana purchase really be history? And what of the Stupak amendment? Will Biden over-rule the parlimentarian?

But you also said:

I wonder if any new polling has been done since the President has taken this action? In other words, would public opinion change with the addition of these Republican proposals? Would the public be more enthusiastic about THIS bill, knowing that THIS bill will be modified to include these elements? You refer to it as the "new and improved" bill - I would think that people would be more inclined to support this "new and improved" bill.
Again, we don't know what this new bill will look like. I can only imagine the promises that Pelosi is making now to round up the votes she's needs. Public opinion has been prety clear to this point...start over.

We do know one thing. Obama delayed that tax on "cadillac plans" he once was against, til 2018 - WHERE will he find the money to replace that revenue?

Another thing we know - lip service to tort reform. He has no intention of incorporating that into any of the bills.

Cool, you can read numbers. Now let's see if you can read the actual language.

More specifically, the passages referred to in the article for the instance you cite above are on pages 117, 121, and 132 of the passed stimulus act:
http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-...:h1enr.txt.pdf

Searching for the other instances cited in the Bloomberg article will yield similar successful results.

I can't wait to be taxed on my insurance benifits.

I can't wait to have to pay even more in taxes to give gold plated coverage to illegals.

I am overjoyed that government employees and union employees will be exempt from this new legislation.

I can't wait until my employer is forced to lay me off because he's crushed by all the new taxes but at least then maybe Obama will take care of me! Might as well not even bothe rto look for a new job!

Wait! I'm a single, white, childless male. He isn't going to do anything for me! It's my duty to work 4 jobs to pay for everyone else.

All that needs to be said.

Seeing as this is the worst American president in history, I envision Zero will be defeated so decisively in 2012 that it will be the biggest landslide in history. Even his home state won't vote for him.
