In a way, we are set up to fail. There are no popular network news sources that analyze the substantial topics of politics.

All networks analyze only political process.

I was telling my wife the other day that I'd like to see a newspaper or show that looks at substance: what exactly is in the healthcare bill, what are Soc. Sec.'s long term actuarial obligations, etc.

Instead we get show after show telling us about political maneuvering, are there enough votes?, how is the candidate positioning herself on any topic, here's what Sen. Blough said in 2008 and here's what he said in 2010--why the difference?

There's a loosely concerted effort to keep the public uninformed on substantive political matters. In short, you don't learn a goddam thing from wathcing Fox or CNN.

And it also goes to show how people can be neither neither book smart nor the possessor of common sense. You have no idea what a Marxist is apparently. How is Obama one, and what Marxist policies has he enacted? What kind of communist bails out failing corporations and allows them to stay autonomous? His relative support for the status quo is why he's been such a disappointment to so many who've voted for him. Marxists tend to be for swift, radical revolution. Maybe you should think a bit more critically about the labels you apply to people.

Essentially all the vets I see hate Obama. Our largest vet demographic are Vietnam vets. Can't say I have run across one who likes him.

You must be a very investigative and curious person. You seem to know everybody's politics around you. I'm fairly talkative and political but I honestly can say I don't know the politics of more than half the people around me.

Still sticking with the same old socialist talking points, huh? Tell me, how would McCain be any better? Would he have stopped the bailouts Bush started? I seriously doubt and there's nothing to prove he would have. Obama may have continued some socialist policies but they have existed in this country since at least 1935. Does that make Obama a socialist or mean that he wants to turn this country into a completely socialist society? I would argue that it doesn't. By the way, why hasn't any POTUS since Roosevelt not ended these policies? Are they all socialist? Let's face it, to some degree, it is a necessary evil because the world we live in is far from perfect. I'm sure you'll walk away from this post thinking I'm socialist and while it's the furthest thing from the truth, that's okay. I'm a pretty moderate Democrat and I vote for the person I feel is best for the job. I have no doubt that Obama despite his mistakes thus far is doing a far superior job than McCain would have done at this point.

By the way, I'm assuming that you mean socialism when you say he's a Marxist Communist otherwise you truly have no idea what you're talking about.

As the one with much more common sense, please explain how he is a Marxist communist? At least you have a slight argument if you claimed socialism.
